To be honest.... as Mr Average..... I really couldn't care less where it is ! I'm even past the point of ruling out 'Trugolf' courses. Like so many others who dislike Olympic and Merion, I guess I would just like to see another 18 hole stroke play course, as soon as possible.

No offence to the people who like those courses, but as I've said before.... probably I'm just not good enough to appreciate and enjoy playing them.

I am in the same boat as Ade as far as Merion is concerned. I will play it but very badly a lot of the time. For me the most disappointing aspect is WGT would have known a long time ago that Murfield was a non starter, so why didn't the plan B come into play?

I think that the profits being generated should be more than sufficient to sustain at least 2 full stroke play courses a year, even if one isn't the Open course. Yes the Open course would obviously be nice but at the end of the day 99.9% of players would be very happy with a substitute from anywhere in the world.

we shouldn't even bother wasting our breath mate.

wgt obviously don't give a sherman tank what non US members think.

they knew from long ago Muirfield was a no go and instead of even bothering about a plan B...they just thought "fk 'em"

lack of courses will eventually see this site slide...just like the other great sites that have taken their loyal members too much for granted.

let them be the architects of their of misfortune. over time the money will dry up.

    goldeena:
as I see it, it is the good old attitude of 'British snottery' that has thrown a spanner in the works here - and I'm not surprised to hear that stalled turgid little country that is gurgling and farting itself eventually underwater in the N. Atlantic still harbours some misguided beliefs in the empire and being the world colonials (pathetic but true - you only have to look at their relationship with Europe to see that small minded island mentality come to the fore

Guessing life was not good for you in Blighty ?

    goldeena:
thank goodness I had the chance to get out of it forever)

Now you tell me...I'd've never moved to Spain if I'd known. sigh

You could say it's an 'American only' attitude adopted here but as I see it, it is the good old attitude of 'British snottery' that has thrown a spanner in the works here - and I'm not surprised to hear that stalled turgid little country that is gurgling and farting itself eventually underwater in the N. Rant over, but...

WGT could indeed cover other world courses that are so breathtakingly beautiful and dramatic that it would prove to have been beneficial that the snots wouldn't put up - why only the other day yaking some course photos I came across an absolutely breathtaking course in Hawaii perched on a green grassy treed mountain with all those peaks and crevices, I just thought 'this v's muirfield??.....lo0lllololo!!!

"stalled turgid little country"  , which one ?

Britain  , as you should be aware is actually not a country at all .

and this v's Muirfield , really , you wouldn't want to have one of the best golf courses in the world , a course regularly ranked in the top ten in the world ?

I'd love Muirfield too , could do with another links style course , but yes , any other course would do , as long as it's a proper 18 holes and not a par 3 one .
