What the heck, I'll bite. Definitely not my best at anything, but it was a good shot, but does not qualify for anything, nor do i suggest such.

Shot this Didn't come close to a ding the whole round and missed a few by a long shot but still shot a 27...I'll take it :)   but it's still a head scratcher.... Pretty sure this was a VEM filled round

    Prolly  right.....we all had them.

No one saying VEM doesn't exist.. Just that the OPs replay doesn't qualify as an example.

    Andy

I know Andy....was just trying to get back on the subject

    Some of my 'VEM' moments'

8 yard 1 inch downhill putt on tourney greens goes 18ft, then realise my Caddy gave me a 20ft increment and I didn't check.

160 yds calculated approach only goes 140 ds, then realise I calculated using the behind view so was using a tailwind calc instead if a headwind.

Full shot driver only goes 200yds, only to realise I'd slipped the mousewheel and the full shot was now a punch.

I know VEM exists, but in my experience those moments are about 1:1000 VEM:My Stupidity.

What according to you guys (and girls) is this ?

A mapping error (it lands on grass instead of hovering in mid air)? If so, shouldn't it have bounced ?

    Some other programming bug ?

VEM decided it was not my day for a hole in 1 ?

I don't know, you tell me.

    R.

IMO, that's a good example of  something that was not caused by VEM but the idiosyncrasy of rendering a 2D game with mapping tolerances of +/- 1/2".  The shot stuck nice and just happened to be within 1/2" of the hole. NS.

People need to think of VEM in general terms, not on a per shot basis. Your overall score at the end of the game (along with the stats you accumulate along the way) is what counts and sometimes how it gets there might seem a little bizarre. This is where trying to render shots in a 2D environment causes problems. VEM takes the heat because it's obviously affecting your game in some fashion but altering specific shots isn't the way it's done. Again, this is just my perception but that also makes it my reality.  :-)

    how bout per round?
    just playd 18 @ cong's,
first 9 holes played as I played them, boom 29, piece a cake (well not really but still).
THEN, back 9 I play one shot, and wgt gives me another,
result: 6 consecutive lousy pars on the card - each one due to VEM.
shots coming up 40 feet short, 11MPH wind flies the ball like 30 MPH,
anything and everything to block me from making a 56 or a 57.
putting was 98% perfect through all 18 holes, the only variable
that changed is that ball roll and approaches on the back 9
did not behave like they did on the front 9.
nothing changed on my side, still dings all the way, still perfect aiming,
perfect speed, the only variable that could explain it, is the VEM.

now personally I'm sick and tired of talking about VEM,
but I can't help it gotta vent out when I get screwed over like that,
and when some ppl bash and laugh off VEM as poor skills and paranoia
I don't get that, can't understand why people would defend this VEM crap.
is it really too much to ask for a fair game?..

How would it be possible to show your vem shots anyway?

Example.... No wind  125 yrd shot so hit it with my rocketbladez wedge. Dinged it straight at hole and it finishes 10 yard to the right(or to the left or 10 yard short.....whatever). So i then come on here and show my replay and start bitching about it. The thing is how are you to know that i did not slice(or hook or whatever} it?

I have seen plenty of  people who have had an exasperating couple of hours(or longer) out on the courses and are that pissed that they come on here ranting about the dreaded Vem doing this or doing that. When in reality they have just not been getting it right and added to that had a few WTF!!! moments which as helped to agitate them even more( I certainly know this is true from my own experiences!!!)

Never mind about VEM. Just go out and enjoy playing the game.

    All the best,

                                                      Al.

Yep, if WGT could implement the meter and spin on the ball for the replay...I think we'd see a lot less complaints:)

Many times in a round when things are going good...I just slightly miss the ding...what appears to be the lines over lapping, and ball flies 8-10 yards off...

I say to myself "man, I just barely missed it"...then calm down and try to regroup.

The thing is, WGT has the ability to take the replay and break down the shot data...so why it's not kept and shown during the replay, I've no idea.

I think it's because some players might not want to "share" that data,
just like you can't ask another player on the pga what club he's using,
but it wouldn't hurt for it to be optional, say like have a check box
that says "show additional data" when you save a replay... I dunno...
