Now that I have played some rounds with the R1 here are my observations vs the R11S- Is it miles longer?- NO. Is it going to AVERAGE longer-YES, absolutely-but not by a ton. Is it easier to 'ding'-somewhat. Is it more forgiving- yes, by a noticeable amount (think difference of forgiveness of R11S vs. R11). You will hit more fairways. You will be more confident cutting some corners (eg BPB #9).

Also the slight difference in trajectory means learning to use spin a bit differently to get maximum distance, or for position on certain holes. I am still learning this part.

Overall I do feel a bit more confident on the tee esp. in situations where a few yards might be the difference of hitting/reaching the fairway or not (like hitting early on KIA #3 into the wind).

I have kept the R11S in inventory up until now, but am now comfortable selling it for a sleeve of balls. I see no downside and perhaps the complaints are because the $35 may not seem worth it to everyone. R1 is not a 'game changer'- but overall it is a modest game enhancer. Again, best feature is forgiveness -fairways hit will go up- a bit; and scoring will be- slightly easier.

I got the R11s a couple months back the minute I was eligible.  I loved it.  When the R1 lvl 98 came out, I played  against  it several times and really doubted I'd switch, even when I could.

Then the limited edition black came out.  I really wasn't  interested.  But there was so much pro/con on the forum I decided to rent it and see for myself.  I went into it thinking I wouldn't even like it enough to use it the entire rental period.  After 3 shots with it, I knew I'd be buying it.  Not only did I buy it, but I sold my R11s.  Not a second of buyers remorse.

Like stated above, not a must have, but I'm glad I have it.  :-)

Wish they had placed this between the currently available L94 and L88 drivers instead of L93.  I'm L91 and as long as it takes now to level up, I'll never get this before it's time runs out.

Too bad, you could have had more of my money, WGT.

120,000 from 93, Im planning on getting there

I got to say this, since I bought it I am getting much better GR and Drive%, two irons less for the approach & hardly miss fairways (slow meter & forgiveness)., besides, I can finally challenge my TL friends & stop hitting my second shot first.

    Awesome tool indeed.

I have not tried this new driver yet. The next free rental I will try it. My friends who have played with me know I can crush a drive from time to time with what I have now. When I get a chance to try this out, I will reply with my personal findings. Some times a long drive can do more harm than good. I prefer an 80 yard approach over a 40-50 any day. Maybe WGT will let us try it out to see for sure. I have bought into everything WGT has thrown at us until now. This high dollar driver will need tested first, I can't afford all the new toys anymore.

I'm with Eric, it is worth every credit. Longer drives, less club into hole, par 5's that were not reachable with rlls are now reachable with right wind. All of this means lower scores. Thanks WGT!

I bought the black driver but am hanging on to my R11s as it is a better fit at Merion with the higher loft and a little less distance, the R11s 3W is a must there too.

I just had to see what all the fuss was about ;-)

I obviously have an odd driver purchase compulsion, currently looking at 3 drivers propped up in my room all begging to find a way into my bag, LOL

I'm soooooooooo praying this isn't going to be another Versa situation, hopefully like others I will be able to report back good things.

Hmmm, not exactly a game changer if you've got the R11s is it?

Just done a bit of back to back testing on Congo F9 and the avg length is 309.02 for the R1 vs 304.17 for the R11s.

The longest drives are where the difference is, 325.5 vs 309.31 but to be honest I think they'll pop up just to make you feel like it's longer all the time.

So most of the time I'll be a club less at most, in real life this makes a difference but on here I'll hardly notice that. I'm as accurate from 130 as i am from 140 (obviously this is a very much personal thing, others will find a difference)

If you struggle with hitting fairways then fine, this is great. But really, does anyone not already have driver that hits them regularly when you're nudging mid lvl 90? (Yes, I know my stats aren't exactly great, lol )

Not heart broken I've spent a load of credits on something that is only a tiny bit better, but if you're tempted I'd recommend using the free rental to try it out as you might not be as blown away as some are.

I've yet to try it in high winds on the links so I would imagine I'll be a bit happier with the purchase after those rounds?

One other thing, is it that I'm missing a trick with the spin? Into the wind I'm putting on a touch of top, otherwise I'm about half back spin. Anyone found a magic formula for these awesome drives I'm reading about?

In my experience, the R1 is longest with full or 3/4 bs- esp into the wind- which is not true for the higher trajectory R11S. Exceptions are on "Saints" courses where topspin or neutral allows the "roll forever" drives. Backspin elevates the trajectory, so more carry both into and with the wind-whereas higher trajectory drivers (R11's; Pings, etc) tend to fly farther into the wind with minimal bs or top as their launch angle is already "high".
