    TallAcePaul:

There is kind of an intimation in your earlier piece that there will be lots of different types of trial in this event. Why? Are you wasting your time looking at this? Do people actually want to play Oakmont with starter clubs?Or to play a CCTH with starter balls or at all?

What we want is a tour, it does not need to be that complicated, why not play one round on each course and make each set-up challenging(High Winds on Beth and SA are a must).

Right on the money Paul.   Here's an idea which I think WGT can do easily.

Each week set up single play 4 round tournaments (like the pro's)  on each of the 8 WGT courses (heck throw in Whistler and Cabo for 10 weeks if you like.   (i.e. Week 1, St A - Week 2 BP, etc.)   Vary the conditions for each of the 4 rounds.    Give each tier the ability to play all 4 rounds ...

If you do that ... I will be happy to volunteer to set up in google docs a way to track the Tour Legend progress by round for the top 250 (or how ever many participate)  which are shown in the results.

    First place ... x points, 2nd, x-1, etc. etc.

At the end of 10 weeks we will have a ranking of winners.

That close to what your thinking of Paul ???

Yes Paul, you make alot of sense.

Simplicity is the key to this being successful, no gimmicks such as club restriction and ctth's is a must ( imo )

But at least SOMETHING is being done about here, so ty you Shoe for that.

Absolutely Lou, the FedEx is a great example and it works.

WGT could go to FedEx and see if they would sponsor it, I bet this site has a perfect demographic for it, cheap advertising for them.

All very good advice everyone and I truly thank you.  My whole idea with the club restrictions is to make it different then every other tournament on here.  But again this is or all of you so if you would prefer a straight up tournament then that's what I will set up.

Again thank you everyone taking the time to put your ideas out there.

I think both kinds would be great. All Iron tournaments always draw many players is our CC.

I don't disagree Sting --- it would be great --- however there is no easy way to set it up and police it unless WGT makes some additions to the game.   When you lay out a WGT tourney run as a community tourney - your talking about screen shots - folks playing with each other, playing on honor,  etc. etc.    Multiply 50 or so folks in a CC tourney by 500 or more in a WGT tourney and it's a full time job to run  ... plus you can never police it ...

Even in the WGA (Vic's tourneys) .. he and I knew of folks who cheated every single week.   They would play easy winds, restart until they got scores they like, etc. etc.   We knew they did it but couldn't prove it - even with Screen Shots.     In fact we disqualified several folks because of this.  Some of them even tried to do it when they played with me or Vic as a marker.   Now multiply the 100 or so that played in the WGA ... 3 yrs ago ... by the hundreds that would sign up for something run by WGT and it almost has to be done by setting up WGT single play tournaments.

The easiest tournament I have personally run was the 10 CC challenge where we used the weekly single play tourney for everyone to play.   Couldn't restart - everyone had the same conditions - easy to monitor and do the results ...    (and even then we had some drama) .. :)

    Hi Shoe

Thank you. I think there is another point to keeping it simple the first time out. You mention above that this is almost a test case so for all our sakes we want it to go well so it does make sense to keep it simple.

I seem to remember Cool almost having a nervous breakdown, close to divorce and on the edge of getting sacked trying to run his tournament when it was in its infancy. These things take a lot more time than you think when you first start running them.

That's why I volunteer ........ Lou to help you. Well done Lou I promise to buy you a pint the next time I see you.

The more thought that was put in as I have read these suggestions, I am definitely going to try and keep it as simple as possible.  Again thank you everyone for your suggestions.  I want this to be successful as well because I know how much fun it will be to keep this up going forward.

Nice! It looks like things evolve well.

Thanks to Lou and Paul (and many others) for suggesting the right direction (without club restriction and the like). Indeed, let's keep it simple.

    Regards
