    At Merion hole 10.

Occasionally, when boredom takes hold and the wind is left to right, I risk a lost ball going over the tree  near the tee. If I land it on the dirt or in the rough, it's usually easy to birdie.

Anyone else go for the back door action?

I'm finding that those going for the fairway short right are the exception these days

always wondered if you can get it over that tree. with a right to left wind, I have made it on the green which is a rather long and difficult eagle putt. are you talking about going directly over the tree?

I found an invisible branch up there, I now avoid the area.

if the wind is just right .. L to R cross i'll full back & try and make the green, front rough or fringe .. but mostly i 3W down fairway for simple pitch into green

Every time Merion 10 comes up, im hoping for a left to right wind. The trick is to adjust for the aim, but still click a little early. Hit that tree though, and you risk losing a ball for sure, or you end up shooting out of some serious rough :)

have never tried that approach, guess the bad outweighs the good, with opposite wind  will go for green but does leave long putt, most times a punch driver or 3w leaves it in the 60 - 80 yd range n more likely to bird n possible to eagle approach
