Yesterday I played a matchplay scored game with a person with a handycap of 72.40. My handycap is 73.50. I won the game 3 up, but my handycap stayed the same. I was on the understanding that if you beat a person with a lower handycap, yours went down. Is this so or not. jonpat.
First of all, the numbers you are quoting are averages, not handicaps. Secondly, in Match Play (Scored or Challenge), your average is only reduced if you beat a player at a higher Tier than yourself.
