Furtheron, me thinks that your equipment might be standing in your way.
I agree, I checked just before seeing this post and figured the K15 irons weren't helping. Something with higher ball flight is what you need at The Road Hole. If the ball comes in pretty flat it's got a good chance of running right through, a high flying ball that drops down hard will have a better chance of staying on. The L83 G20 irons will soom be available to you, I'd suggest giving them a go.
ChinaJohn's method seems to go against my theory and still work somehow, he must have Seve levels of feel.
I almost always play this hole allowing for a lot of run out. For the front pin I aim to land a few yards past the big ridge near the front of the green with plenty of b/s and the ball will usually roll somewhere close as long as I judge the power right. For the back pin I aim to land right of the bunker and let the ball run through towards the hole. This leaves a fairly straight putt but it will be downhill so care is needed. Going directly at the hole only really seems to be an option if there's some head wind. Not too much though as then it becomes barely reachable.
