Congressional #4 from Legend tees.

  So there I was, -3 after 3 in a Congressional front 9 Ready-Go and I step onto the 4th tee for the first time as a Legend and.....well you can guess that since I took the time to write this post, the round went south real quick. 

  How exactly are you supposed to hit the fairway here..especially with the wind coming out of the left? I'm open to suggestions. I suppose you could hit 3W short of the joggle, but that would make reaching the green in two a longshot...so to speak. 

  I found a youtube video, where someone played over the tree but that doesn't work with my med trajectory L48 R1. The youtuber was playing a L94 R11, which appears to have a high enough trajectory to clear the branches. I'm about 500 million XP away from that driver, so I don't know what to do about this shot until I get there.

  I think Congo is my favorite WGT course, but I'm wondering if I'll bother with another front 9 RG until I unlock equipment that gives me a shot at competing.

  Most clubs clear it with full backspin, if not just punch short and underneath.

  How the....did you even do that!? When I miss the ding early, I get pulls not draws. If tried that shot, I'd hit the tree 8/10 times. Pretty drive though.

  Aim right, and click inside the dark blue area to the left of the ding during your swing.  Do the opposite if you want a fade.

  How did I not know that ?! I was under the impression that shot shaping was non-existent all this time. My intuition kinda led me to believe that dark area is where shots are no longer solid hits.

  This knowledge will probably get me into trouble, but I appreciate the tip nonetheless. Thanks Jay and Scott!

  The forum is a good place to pick up handy tips, that's how I got to find out how to do this, and yes, it does need some practice because the wind strength and direction obviously has an effect on how much draw/fade you will achieve but it's a very useful shot to have in your repertoire.

  No way with a 3 wind would I take that shot. FBS aiming right in the middle of the fairway clears the trees without a problem. That 48 R1 has the same trajectory as the 98 which is what I use. I've plunked that tree once since I got the driver and it was because I clicked early.

  Use that shot for strong left to right winds but anything else, aim in the center of the fairway and ding the hit.  :-)

  For me, the fade or draw is a high risk shot (due to lack of skill) and the only course where I use it regularly is Olympic. Like you Jim I wouldn't use it on this particular hole unless there was a good left to right wind, but Nell has discovered that he can overcome his difficulty with a full backspin drive so all is good, and he's also learnt you can shot shape. Two birds, one stone.
