No way Willy.  Can't believe that you'd rather have a better experience with easier game set ups and less dissconnections than listening to the little birdies chirp while it's blowing 28mph in the background.  Don't quite get how the bird would be happy in a gale, but just my opinion.  The occasional honking horn's a much needed extra also, love to hear that, and the planes flying over in my backswing.  They've got this down to a science as far as what we as users want, I think, lol.   Maybe in our next life we'll get real improvements.

Forgot to clear my cache before I played today. The only problem I noticed was the meter was a bit jittery and the speed up before the ding on putts. Cleared the cache and played again ...no difference. Everything seems to be working as usual.

Going on a full week of nothing but loading issues.  I'm not buying this is on my end, as every other site and task I do outside WGT, works fine.  Even hustling credits here is ez- peezie, but not getting a tournament or ranked round to load.  Single play, multy play, no matter they all take forever to load, and once they do the game play loads so slowly I get tired of hitting the load manager yes response that I just give up on the round.  Result, I now have a yellow dot next to my user name for average completion.

Must admit though, getting to hear all the background noises while chasing the meter once it loads makes it all worth the wait.  Come on guys, get with the program here will you.

    XBELL:

In the past 3 months I have had the problem with the meter speed on the downswing shoots past the ding mark by a long ways. It seems to happen only once in awhile and usually on a critical tee shot or long second shot so that good chance ball goes out of bounds. I am pretty certain it has nothing do with the cache, browser but totally WGT.

Oh very much this. I've lost more balls in the last 4months than I had for the previous year. And before the browser white nights come in, it's as crappy on every browser and with or without boost , cleaned cache, yada yada. In short, it sucks big time.

    Hi everyone,

Here is what I can tell you for a fact: we like downtimes even less :). Here is why: usually there is only me who is trolling around the site at night. Sometimes someone else... if we have a downtime, you're talking about several engineers who have to stay up til 2-3am; which, makes them cranky.

Not only that, but what's the point for us to have downtime unless it;s absolutely nessesary?>

As to what was done exactly.. many times we don't publish details since it's nothing that you guys can see... In this case, I think we had to replace some hardware and rebuild database, which required short downtime.

Servers need maintained constantly......there's no way round having to take server(s) offline to carry out such aspects as replacing hardware for instance.

Companies who don't maintain their servers frequently don't usually last too long......especially with the amount of punishment the wgt servers will take......hence they need routine maintenance to keep things right.

I replace my hd's every 18 months max (mines don't get anywhere near the traffic or punishment WGT's servers get), whether they're healthy or not. It's much better to be safe and advise clients of the scheduled maintenance than having to deal with an impromtu hd crash and all hell breaking loose with customers squealing about sudden unannounced downtime.

No one likes downtime but it happens and in a lot of cases it's necessary. That's just one of the pitfalls from operating an online business where the servers receive a great deal of punishment. The only other option is to do less or no maintenance and watch the servers grind to a halt. :)

Here's an interesting, recent and relevant post re: WGT Servers

    DannyMcFly wrote on 10-16-2013:

In last few weeks I've sent several e-mails to wgt support about loading yesterday. got an e-mail:

    "Hello DannyMcFly,

Thank you for contacting WGT Member Services.

I apologize on the delay in response to your message, your email was accidentally placed into our Spam folder.

Recently our servers were experiencing minor connection issues that have affected our players from connecting correctly. These issues have been resolved and you shouldn't experience those connections problems. I do apologize for the inconvenience that you've experienced and have credited your account with some Nike golf balls as a gesture of good faith.

No amount of preventative PC maintenance on our end will fix server issues.  Could this also be the cause of all the multi-player disconnect issues of late?

    Correct.

It's quite likely the reason mate. It's something WGT have admitted they'd been having issues with and have been trying to fix. Sometimes things need a couple of fixes :)
