So you are saying WGT is making unfair on purpose to get more players to play??

Unfair because a bit of luck is involved?  Las Vegas is verrry popular.  So yeah, WGT added randomness to get more players to play.

I've already said I can see it from your viewpoint and agreed same winds is worth a shot as an addition while keeping random winds for those who don't mind.

    Is that OK with you?

+1 Andy for sure. I don't mind having both.I will say though that unfair and luck do not go together in my book.

Sounds good to me. Now if WGT is listening to this thread we might be doing something.

Enjoyed the debate mate. Hopefully WGT will take notice.

    Two things Cerino...

I'll first answer your "why play them" question, and you can answer my question:)

I play RG's-like Gerald does-to pay for ball usage and when I've built up enough credits, I will buy a club...I just dropped (few days back) near 4K credits on the Versa putter.

So, my question is, how do you pay to play here?

You either have to pull out a CC

    Spend $$ on offers

    Watch videos, etc..

Me personally if I'm going to invest 2-3 hours of time on WGT, I'd rather do it playing with a fair chance to make credits toward my habit...not watching vid's or doing survey's...nor do I want to dig into my wallet on a weekly basis just to play and have a bit of fun...so in my case, I want my playing to fund my games here...hence why I want to play in like-same conditions...if I place high great...I did well, if I place low...fine, I didn't do well...but when I put earned credits intp the pot, I'd like to know my 31 I posted in a high wind RG was the same conditions that the winner posted a 28 on...but I know 99.99% of the time, it wasn't.

    CerinoDevoti:

When you've come out ahead, how do you know you beat any cheaters? Also, how do you know you didn't just get the easy winds and some other players were left griping about it?

Well, this is exactly what we are talking about...if I get easy winds and you get hard winds...is my 27 better than your 32?...probably not...but as I mentioned long time ago (in this read) to Icon...lets play a round at par 5...give me all tail winds, you get all head winds, let's play moderate wind even...heck...in like-same condition (MP or stroke) Icon would wipe me 9 out of 10 times...but under the conditions I just set...I'd bet my pink slip I'd come out ahead.

And who cares if we beat/tie/lose to a cheater...it has no relevance, if playing under the same conditions.

    CerinoDevoti:
his is where I see nothing but insanity in playing these RG's. It can't just be winning fair but losing to cheats or unfair conditions. If anything Icon was right, it all evens out in the end. What we never hear is anyone complain about getting following winds on all the holes it helps the most. They're just spending the credits won on GB's and wasting the rest entering more RG's.

Okay, so let me ask you thhis...how do you fund yourself to play WGT?

Time invested for earning credits, or out of pocket?

Guys like me, can't go out of pocket and above I explained why I'd rather ivest my time playing, than doing survey's, etc.

The last thing I'd say, winning for me is not the priority, but placing well is...I know coming to the last hole my score if I birdie it, will not win me the tourney...but I also know if I do birdie it, 9 of 10 times I'll come out ahead with my current score.

Just came on to see if this needed bumbed...lol guess not

And WGT when you do add a couple readygoes with same wind for every one, can you incorporate it into country clubs? I would actually rejoin my old cc to be able to compete like this..would be a blast

carry on gents, wgt has to say something you would think..

    Hey Mike,

I do surveys mostly and the video's as well to fund my play. I look at it as WGT has offered us the opportunity to gain sponsorship credits. I just have to take my time to have them pay my way. I feel like it's part of the real life experience of playing on this site. I suppose in your case the real life experience is winning those credits like the pros win money in competition. I'm one of those folks who won't wager and don't see the logic in doing  it. I play the free  Weeklys and Monthly's to see what happens and every so often I win some credits. If what I'm reading is true, then those are also unfair competitions. The winds are just as random as the RG's but we're not paying an entry fee before we play.

Oh, I mentioned playing RG's is insanity. What I read here is the conditions of play never change but many seem to be looking for different results. You guys have made a pretty good case for the wind conditions to be the same for everyone entered. Just want to let you know I understand and agree it would be optimum.  If WGT doesn't respond to this thread or make any changes, you'll be playing in the RG's anyway hoping for different results from the same conditions. Followed by the threads like the one we're reading and posting in now. Seems like a vicious cycle that can be avoided.

For sure Cerino...hope you didn't think I was lashing out at you, and yes...weekly comps that WGT can occur in the same fashion.

Now as we know in a no wind tourney...it's all up to the "ding", but as winds pick up, we get variables...for sure if you and I play, say #4 at SA...I have 22 tail , yu have 22 head wind..

I miss my 9 iron approach by a scooch, and you miss your 3/4 iron by a scooch...I'll have a 10-15 putt for bird, and you have a roller coaster ride to the hole, and potential 3 putt if not careful.

It's just not about eagles on par 5's...heck, if I was an auto dinging machine, wouldn't bother me a bit:)

And actually...it's not gonna bother me much over the next several weeks...I won't be donating much more for a bit:)

There are 3 factors that deter me from RG's

                          i) cheaters

                          ii) variable wind sets

                          iii) quality of the opposition

Until u r top dog in ur own particular Country Club, then I don't see how u can compete in RG's.

I will never ever be top dog in my CC, that's for sure.

    Bump.....

BTW   Andy i have been thinking. Figuring i have won two ready gos in three days, and have not played and wasted balls in others.

I like the winner takes all route. Figure just those two wins if winner take all,, should pay for my balls for a month if not more.

The little chump change you get for not winning isn't much to worry about. Na.... i like winner gets it all.

    What you think??

Top 30 is way too many. Shouldn't get anything back for not even finishing in the top half. Top 20 with 11-20 getting half entry fee back would leave a lot more credits for those who played well. I don't think many would play if they were winner-take-all payouts, this would make the windset you get even more of a factor. But, as is, winning a 100cr RG barely covers the cost of a sleeve of balls, and losing on count-back doesn't. The 20% rake also doesn't help matters, but that's a different can of worms.

Yes Glass i understand what you are saying,, but if was winner takes all you would not need to win that many. Couple of wins here and there would cover your entry fees and pay for many balls. Figure that would be 4000 credits just for a 100 credit ready go.

But i do like what you said about Top 20. That would increase the amount of credits won for sure.
