I'm tempted to rent these. The Bladez are ok, but they're a bit bi-polar for me. One round they are fairly forgiving and accurate, and the next round I can't hit the broad side of a barn with them. I just went on an 11 hole stretch without a single birdie. It could've been the update, but the Bladez were a country mile off the whole time.

As far as the dots go, in my limited experience here, they don't mean much. The 2.5 dot forgiveness G20s are worlds more forgiving(and consistent) than the 2.5 dot Bladez. If the Speedblades have the G20's 2.5 dots of forgiveness, coupled with the spin and trajectory of the Bladez...well I'll happily buy them.

It is curious that they have the same attributes on paper though. Seems kinda dumb if you ask me. I would have given them 4/2.5/3 so they aren't quite as good as the Bladez, but better than the L59 G20's.

this compares to the Lvl 79+ RocketBladez set

I asked a mod directly and silence so far...Only the pro shop specs to go by.

EDIT: I do not agree with this policy.  If I went to the Taylor Made website I would get the spiel of course.  If I went to a good pro shop I would expect some better advice, and and take them to the rang eto try them before I bought at no extra charge.  IRL there would also be a plethora of AB comparisons and so on.  WGT could go a good way to solving all this by changing the rental conditions to work with the customer a bit more as discussed elsewhere quite a bit.

    +1.
Give us a free 1 hour rental or something for chrissakes WGT! You won't lose a penny from it and more people will buy them..even if they aren't any good(some will just have a lucky round and attribute it to the rentals)

    Not a bad idea.

Since wgt was good enough to grace me with 3 sleeves of balls for a mess up on their part, figured i would rent these to see how they compare to the rockets as i had those and found them most unforgiving. I know the specs look the same, but curious about the arc and the landing. Have played 3 rounds with them...Land softly on bs shots..much less roll out than my current g20s. i can control the meter pretty well as only slightly faster. Still will have to shoot a lot more rounds with them to get distances right. Hole #3 at BP with 3 iron, no spin Cally slow meter...dinged it rolled to within 2 yards playing at the 240 mark...so pretty good so far IMO

Thanks for posting this. I was wondering how the trajectory compared to the high level G20s/Bladez. Sounds like it could even be a modest improvement. I'm curious to hear how your slight off-ding shots fared though. The Bladez almost seems like they are getting worse! I pretty much have to ding the thing to get it on a decent line. Even millimeter misses are straying and I really didn't notice them doing that before the update. It almost does't matter how bad you miss. I spazzed out last night and clicked about a full 1/4 inch early and the shot still almost made the green!

I played everything today on mostly low wind..slight miss of ding is not as punishing as the Rockets are IMO...the hardest part for me was figuring out the bs ratio. But that takes time on any irons. I will continue to play my g20s only because i have them mapped out so well.

WGT would surely LOVE to replace all those R11 iron sets held by most of top players.........

..........it would make these already ridiculously low scores

I agree.  The only reason anyone is dumping the R11 irons at the moment is because of the meter speed, several players are accepting slightly inferior irons in exchange for a slower meter.   If WGT introduce new, better irons the scores will really get silly.  The players posting those scores are already being accused of cheating, imagine the backlash if scores under 50 become regular?

I've said this many times but once more won't hurt.  What we really need is clubs that have a high risk/reward factor.  Give them good precision but low forgiveness and a fast meter.  If you hit or get very close to the ding you get a good shot, miss it and you're in the long stuff.  Clubs like this won't appeal to everyone, those who don't like the R11 meter would like these clubs even less but there should be a benefit for those who can deal with fast meters.

Time for that red zone? Go above a certain power point and get progressively, but quickly penalised for not getting a clean strike (miss ding).  Iron wise you have the option to go up a club but less trajectory / spin = more roll out.

Certainly WGT would love to issue L90 R11 replacements, but even they can't want  to risk even lower scores being the norm. Time for something more radical than just new irons IF they can.

Personally I like them, I have the r11's and the g20's, but as of  yet I think i'll stick with these...

Yeah, that would be the other option.  And I think a better one because it would effect all club sets.  Being able to hit max power every shot without any extra risk isn't terribly realistic.
