Neil.. when you get there mate you want the R11s trust me.

The faster meter you will get used to and the R11s are far more forgiving. Don't get me wrong i play with the slow meter ball, but not because of the irons meter speed.

I love the slow meter ball for putting. Before they came out with it i was playing the level 33 Cally ball and not having any problems at all. This damn slow meter ball though for putting is addicting i hate to say it... lol.

The big thing in my opinion is the R11 3 iron. This thing is worth its weight in gold. Par 3's that you thought were hard,,, just became birdies. This thing will smack a ball over 240 yards off the tee, and sometime back up..lol. Depending on hole this club from back tee and having plenty wind.... i can't see not having it.

Some legends even tour legend still like the Rockets.... but the R11s have the advantage without any doubt. Fly high... stop on a dime. With Nike ball..... dangerous..hehe.

Thanks gerald, that brought on my Homer (DOH) moment of the year!

I've never even considered 3 and 4 Irons from the tee, so I just spent a couple of hours on the practice tees ( I use STA #1) dialing in the tee shots with the R11s. Some VERY interesting results that I look forward to using in ranked rounds. (Why oh WHY did it take me over a year playing to learn that?)

The punched backspin shot from the tee is gives an interesting distance too.

Normally don't b!tch much, and I thought it was one of those 4 day spells that happen every 4-5 weeks where nothing seems to react as they normally do but I was very high on the rocketbladez until the speedbladez came out because every since they did my rbladez are totally off....the 3i and 4i still perform well but the accuracy and distances on everything else is so F'ed up it is pitiful...I can hit same shots over and over down a fairway and can't get the within 5 yrds of the previous shot both being dinged...don't know what happened or how but I was tempted to buy the speedbladez rather than suffer through another level when I will be able to buy the R11's but I think that's the trap set for us...I would bet there is a new club coming for low 80's level players and they want us to buy them or switch to speedbladez until L90 R11 is available....in short if your looking I would go with the speedBz even though I have never used them, something is up with the RB's and I loved them until the last couple of weeks, if my putting had not improved so much I would be shooting 5-6 stroke higher rounds...

should any of the WGT mods read this another thing p!ssing me off is I was hitting the ding like 90% of the time with the 3 1/2 dot feel balls when I wanted to hit it...now after the 1st few holes it flies through the hitting zone....if I PAY EXTRA for a SLOW METER BALL, I WANT a F'N SLOW METER BALL !!!!! Last night I switched to my 3 dot feel ball for the 3rd time this month and it is slower through the hitting zone than the slow meter ball which is PURE BS !!!!! Played a ctth with it and dinged 7 of the 8 shots I tried to ding....

    {snipped some good stuff}

Dan, this was exactly my frustration with the Bladez. Like I said in this thread, or another one somewhere - they just didn't perform consistently enough for me to be able to score well with them. Distances were all over the place and my slight misses were flying wildly off target. Even some dings would fly 4-5 yards off target.

The SpeedBlades seem much more predictable and forgiving, so I'd go ahead and give them a rent. Use your Bladez yardages then subtract 1 yard for short irons and 2 yards or so with the mid and long irons. If you use a high spin ball, subtract an extra yard as I think the new blades are stickier.

Thanks for the advice Gerald. I think I'll give them a try for sure, but it took a long time for me to adjust to the Bladez meter and I wonder if I will even be able to adjust to the R11 meter. But you did say they are more forgiving, so that could probably offset the fact that I'll miss a bit more.

I used to play a 3.5 dot feel ball and it seemed to cause meter jitters, so I switched to a 3 dot ball on a hunch that it would be smoother and now the meter speed seems just right(and smoother). I may go back to the 3.5 dot ball when the time comes to try the R11s. No doubt those balls make it easy to putt!

Yes Neil,, the R11s are way more forgiving for sure. Most of time a missed ding with the R11s will finish much closer than the blazes. I also find missing on purpose against the wind works very well with the R11s.

Also the yardage you will get against the wind R11s are very nice. It takes a lil time to adjust to any new clubs for sure Neil,, but if trying to score the best you won't work as hard if have the R11s. They can just hit shots that no other club can hit. I guess that statement right there says it all.

OOO...BTW... very nice shooting sir in the Merion front 9 ready go.... well done!!

mine were great until the new ones came out, now I have no idea how far the short irons will go, I do know it won't be straight LOL....

I'm not going for this one and spending $30 for speedbladez, 1 more level and I will get the R11's... I might get them if I don't like the R11's because I do like the fact that my irons/wedges/driver and 3 wood are all the same swing meter......

LOL...Dan. That is usually the way it works...no??

Don't be worried about all that crap....lol. Once you get to smack the R11s... you won't be going back. Trust me.

I think the first round with them you would be hooked. Yup...meter lil faster then the woods,, but you will adjust and keep rolling.

Just got to be the ball mate. Nanaanann.........

Thanks Gerald and congrats on the win! That was easily my best front nine at Merion.

To your point about the R11s - on #9 I was just a little too far out for the 3 iron and ending up hitting a terrible 3W to about 35 feet and the par probably cost me the tiebreaker. I could have hit 3 iron and hoped for a +5 yard deviation, but I was afraid of a -5 deviation that would have put me in the front bunker. I'm sure you had no trouble with that shot. ;)

I thought you were just a couple levels ahead of me. Good luck with the R11s, I expect you'll be cleaning up with them in no time!
