Funny you should say that about champ greens. I now use the same ratio as for tourny greens with the only difference being that I take more off on downhills.

I have been doing that for ages, still run it by 4 feet if it's a miss or come up 3 inches short in the throat.

I don't know why, but I just CANNOT play no wind, I've played a fair few, but I always have numerous (different) problems, everything seems about 10 yards or more inexact.

Do yourself a favor, John, and try the BPB F9 monthly (low wind) with level 33 Callaways or the weekly at Oakmont (no wind.) Commit to playing it strictly to score. By that I mean if you don't birdie the first hole, start over. Same with the second, etc. What happens is because you're restarting immediately you'll find yourself learning different ways to get the shot down.

For instance, the approach on #1 should be 100-120 out. A choked PW with no spin, a fbs full swing or a punch with that same wedge gives you 3 different looks at what it takes-they all work. It's a low wind setup so focus on making sure if you don't ding the shot to miss on the wind side. This is where you'll find the Callaway superior to the Nike because you won't get killed on the deviation.

Setups like these take away the boring part of practice because you're seeing actual tournament conditions and there's no pressure. Repetition goes a long way to learning something and it pays good dividends when you learn and have fun at the same time. Who knows, one of those rounds it will all click and you'll fire off a 25. LOL   GL.

*edit-Didn't realize today was new month so you'll have to determine which Legend tournaments are No Wind or Low Wind this month. Heh-everything's Heavy Wind now for me.  :-(

Oakmont B9 free tourney is still up until Feb 2nd, and since we started that tourney as Legends Jim, we can still play it under those conditions.

Even if it shows moderate winds and Champ greens before you click play again.  ;-)

I say all that noting that I do like play a fair amount of spin which I think should be stated

Take some of spin off with the Nike Irons.  Dot just off bottom or experiment with top, none or different b/spins.

The Shots of the Nike Irons have got better, I agree. When they first came out, the shots when Dinged were going to the pin instead of were you aimed...  causing the wind to take the ball way off line.  Now it's not bad.

On a different subject along the lines of Downtime......  Apart from new courses.

It's time Wgt start working on CC upgrades now.  The ones we have suggested in the past...   there is a post hanging around with all the suggestions and Wgt Knows about it.

We have had quite a few new clubs and a few game fixes...  time to work on Country Clubs :)

Too right we have, I never expected another new driver so soon after the R1.  Let's hope some of the mighty $ rolling in from all these new clubs goes towards a new proper course.

But between the lines it seems more and more certain that the British Open on WGT is a thing of the past.

Sadly I think you're right. As usual we'll hear sweet FA about it though.

If I'm being totally honest though I'd like to see the Open venue featured on here maybe every 2 years. Our links courses are fantastic in the flesh, but that doesn't relate on here. They all look so boring. Royal Liverpool would just be a slightly prettier RSG (not that that is hard to do!)

Compare that to how great Olympic and Merion have come over on here and I'd much rather see 2 US course a year. Or maybe the US open venue and something from other countries?

Plenty of big tournaments going on all over the world  and this is World Golf Tour after all isn't it?
