Sadly sending large items to  foreign  destinations is time consuming for their dispatch and costly to ship via reputable channels. Yes this cost is borne by the purchaser, however the level of this cost is usually prohibitive so results in very few sales.

Even if this is true, are these US companies aware that people from the ROTW do actually go to the US, and may even visit some of the stores there!?!

At least we got a reminder on every tee of where not to shop when we are over there :)

List grows of what and where not to buy...

    Dick's  (aptly named )

    Korbel plonck

    Lexus cars

    etc etc

GL you U.S. boys and girls.....had 5 lip outs from perfect putts.

Looks like one of 'them' comps..makes you go round and round and round again until !

     lol

Yes Aussies, and in fact, the rest of the world are once again excluded.

However in  defense  of WGT, this is possibly a stipulation of the sponsoring company. They want to  maximize  sales for the markets they sell to. Sadly sending large items to  foreign  destinations is time consuming for their dispatch and costly to ship via reputable channels. Yes this cost is borne by the purchaser, however the level of this cost is usually prohibitive so results in very few sales.

What WGT should be trying to do is approach companies in other countries to gain sponsorship for local tournaments. The problem is WGT is essentially a US company and simply do not have the feet on the ground or resources to do so. So once again the rest of the world miss out as usual.

Maybe the World part of the games name should be dropped.

^ This is exactly the point I was trying to make in my post from page one. This is a US Company sponsoring this Tournament. Their marketing scope is only in the US so that would well explain the stipulation about only US entrants. Once again, no real consolation to members non-US but it appears this may be the case.

One other point, "IMO" and after reading the new TOS for the first time ever, I think this Flag Changing is a violation in the eyes of WGT. I can't imagine it being worth the credits or other prize to be thrown off the site. Proceed with extreme caution if one's Flag Changes would be my advice.

True dat CD.  I think WGT should not hold tourneys like this if the rest of the World is not allowed to play.

BTW...  Flag changing has always been against the rules. Just so happens its never enforced. If you do not live where your address is on account info..... think that is against the rules.... no?

Also since this rule has been taken advantage of plenty times before.... kicking a player off now would seem rather stupid. I mean remember the flag changing issue at last years Open?....  Lmao!  Figure had several players that were willing to commit fraud. Even had players willing to vouch for each other.... some of the funniest shite i have ever seen on this site.  Figure IRL these players would have went to prison.  WGT... did them nothing.

From what i see this game is played every single day with rule breaches. Can't see them starting to enforce them now. Anything goes on this site..... and does!

I do love how Mags though threw that 54 up quick..... said.... in your face!

    LOL

    Has it ?

Didn't read the old TCs, never mind new ones...lol

Just had a quick look across all tiers and at least 30 flag changes jump out ( and they will probably keep the US flag till comp finishes ?? )

Have to say I enjoyed my hour in Hawaii, was going to pick Alaska but too cold  Brrrr

Yup it has. Giving false info is against the rules. Simple.... called fraud.  But..... who gives a shite..... not like they do anything anyway. I mean after they swept that crap that happen at last years Open under the rug. They going to do something now?  Can't see it.

Also i know several players that live in States that do not allow gambling. Sooo.... they can not play ready gos. They change their address and play away....lol.

Enjoy Hawaii mate.... i hear is nice over there. I got to go there once before i'm done.

    :))

Edit: I just did a quick look at the leader boards. 30 you say...lol. I seen way more than that. If they do.... do something going to be losing a good bit of players. Will be very interesting. ;)

I'll bet they do nothing.  Got to remember now..... nothing is what their good at.

I'm not taking the sponser side in any way here but there is a couple of things you should consider...

A friend of mine owns a big midwestern soccer specific sporting goods franchise that doesn't ship overseas because of the government restriction/duties/paper work etc., as I recall he said to me years ago it is a whole new ball game, it is bad enough to ship to Canada...I don't remember the specifics...

Another consideration is a lot of these big companies hire other companies who are internet sales specialists to handle ALL of their online business....these sub contractors might be handling online sales for 10 corporations and use their own plan, DSG might not have any say  in it....you guys might want to check that out...

Also I doubt DSG stores are even located in hotbeds of tourism and don't even give a thought to sales to tourists who might be here for a week or 2...lol....it isn't enough business to affect their bottom line...

The suite at the Bellagio was fun as well. Only stayed there cause the gifted ball is the one I'm using, not sure if I'll even play the tourney.

    Cheers,

    Lexus cars

did you buy before all of this?  would you have had this never been a 'thing'?

just wondering - i know I haven't and am not about to boycott something I never would've given my patronage too anyhow.

dicks is too spendy - local smaller stores do a better job in  my particular community for my sporting needs - they have okay deals on shoes though - and not too horrible on soccer bags or balls but that's about all I've ever checked into

    korbel - don't drink - no prob

lexus - not even if I could - the new kia looks nice :)

don't get me wrong - would rather be excluded than have my wgt friends and fellow players from around the world be angry - about anything - than get my ball and feel favored.  I'm not winning any credits, but the ball was nice - so I'm on the ROTW's side but also, not sure what the fuss is all about.  Did everyone who played on the 14th get  free ball?  I'm not sure how 'international' that holiday is - again, just wondering.

cheers bud - not trying to make waves - just another thing to think about

This company Dick's is not that old of a company , if they could expand into different markets they would as american companies are very greedy lol .

Dicks has been around since like the 1950's, a Fortune 500 Company, and one of the biggest sporting goods outlets in the world....they also own Golf Galaxy.

I`m in New England and we have Dicks stores around...with the usual "Big Corporation" reputation that follows...and is deserved unfortunately...it could be so much better if they weren`t looking at the profit line with tunnel vision. Most people I know don`t go there for quality of products or service, they go just to save money. Like Home Depot or WalMart. Most people I know that have shopped at Dicks are also disappointed ;-).

There`s also a local sporting goods store that gets enough support to survive. They`ve had bumper stickers for years that read something like this:

                                D@>&`s Sporting Goods...

                                We`re Not Dicks!

-store name withheld just in case of legal issues ;-)

LOL, for the record I never buy at Dicks, wayyyyy tooooo high, now my kids do because it is located in their favorite Mall, so I usually end up finding the item they bought a lot cheaper somewhere else and make them return it...lol.

The one close to us is HUGE, they a rock climbing wall right in the middle and have a lot of stuff that is hard to find around here but I ain't paying 20-25% more for most items....and I get soccer boots and accessories 50-70% cheaper online or through my friends store....
