+1 to all the comments in favor of 4 rounds of single play for the big WGT competitions (although I fully understand the hidden motives behind unlimited play for the first round).

I do want to add some context for the reason why so many players' scores are higher on the 2nd round. It's not just the chance to grind out a better score in R1, but the conditions (at least for Legend tier) got markedly harder:

R1 was Low wind and Tourney greens.

R2 was Heavy wind and Champ greens.

Full disclosure: I only had time to play R1 twice all the way through (not counting a few restarts... lol ... and two much more enjoyable rounds with Starters and the Transamerica ball: see thread here) and I came in 4 shots worse on R2 (with several missed chances).

TL had low winds and tourney greens for the second round.

Ran off 9 straight birds from 5-13. However, I butchered putts on 2, 4, 16 (after nearly reaching in 2), 17. Basically, unless I stuffed it, I didnt make anything and got the 61 I deserved

How about one round of unlimited in the first half of the month, then three rounds of single play?  I'd bet that the total number of rounds played wouldn't change much at all.  For me personally, it would've resulted in two more rounds.

I'd agree here...I so hate UL rounds, the only time I bang them out is for the Majors, this one I did 2 or 3? I think restarts and only posted 2 scores...not sure what it is for me..shoot, way better payoff here than for qual'ing for the VUSO...but played the lat round like a RG...just more focused I guess.

Sure, my 2nd round didn't sniff the leaders, but I'll take a 58 under easy conditions in SP, rather than X-attempts and a 58 under hard conditions,,,know what I mean?

(BTW my first round was over 60...jus making a point)

As a legend playing in the Transamerica I think that legends actually had it a little tougher. High winds single play really did test everyones skills to the max to finish strong with a good R2 score. I myself was even after 5 and managed a eagle on #6 and finish the front with -4. I got hot on the B9 and scored -8 to break 60 but I played some of the best golf I've ever played to manage that score.

I don't think they will make it all single play as it would be boring to wait a whole month for 2 single round plays. Although the major coming up in March might be different. a 4 round single play would be interesting.
