Depending on the wind direction, and if I'm feeling as if I'm hitting drives where I aim them ... then I consider playing 3W to the area to the left and just past the first bunker on the left. Yes, it's a long way back, but it still will leave a short-mid iron, and the ground there is fairly flat.
I feel that going full distance over the 2 humps is still a lottery as to what kind of lie you'll get. It's very easy to go too far and get a severe sidehill, and sometimes a downhiller as well.
With the starter clubs I do the same as Cerino, aiming for short of the first bunker on the right. It's a great place to be especially into the wind, which will help stop what is nevertheless going to be a long approach. With a big tailwind, I know that that spot won't be fun to come in from, so I take my chances to get closer by hitting some topspin and try and choke down the driver a little to bounce short of the first hump and run over it. Even then it's hit-and-hope as to whether I'll clear everything and end up somewhere flattish.
One thing I do love about this hole with unevens is that it becomes a true test (with the element of luck thrown in). With artificial 'flat' lies, you're missing all the strategy and challenge of the classic links golf hole that this is.
