    Hi Steven

You will notice a "dramatic" loss of forgiveness if you miss ding on the wrong side with Bertha!

I am not fun of it, and only use it in strong wind.

    Just my opinion.

Agreed.....if you miss the ding on the wrong side of where you are aiming, any club is going to leave you a mess....To me, IMO....its going to be hard to miss the ding as slow as the meter is...I had to deliberately try to not ding it...took me 3 holes because I kept dinging it...if you have the right shot set up and you ding it...it goes where you want it to.

Its all about what works for you.  If it weren't for the slow meter balls, I couldn't keep up with the R11 irons...and I would be using the VR's instead.

I am curious about the high trajectory of the BB vrs the med-high of the R1. When the Nike high level driver was coming out there was some discussion about the ability of a driver with the distance of the R1 but with the high trajectory and its ability to clear the trees on dog leg holes. This would apply to courses such as Olympic and the speculation of Pinehurst based on the course outlay.

So anyone who has played both clubs and has played Olympics comments would be apprecialted

I'm sooooooooo close to liking the bertha 3 wood over the r11s, easily 10 yards further with more to come with the right spin. And the bloody thing stops like an iron!

BUT, unlike a few lucky folk that have got the good ones, no way is this as forgiving as the r11s. Half a mm off ding and if there's some crap or water to be found I'm 15 yards+ off line, no trouble around and the thing will only deviate 5 yards. Go figure! ;-)

Throw in a bit of meter manipulation and the game will send the ball wherever the hell it wants.

But to be fair when I'm left alone this club is superb, as someone said to me in another thread it's a great risk / reward club and that does spice things up a bit.

I can't remember the last time my r11s 3 wood gave me problems and it's the smoothest meter in the bag which is making it hard to drop for good, but I think it's going to spend a bit more time in the shed for now.

Having noticed my lvl 93 limited lost some spunt over the last week or so with 250 shots landing in bunkers and 300 disappearing from my ability, I just plunked down the dough on the lvl 96 BB and 1 round in I'm extremely pleased. Also I plunked down the dough on the 3 wood, and wowwie is it long, it's going to put some strain on the 3 iron to fill the new gap, but how can anyone complain about a club going to far. Very nice additions to the bag all around IMHO.

Don't have the BB driver but I do have the Nike 9 degree(same club basically)...it is perfect for the trees and doglegs at OLY

FD      Haven't been to Oly yet with my BB driver & 3 wood but the two together are really sweet.   Both have the same speed (3.5).   I had quite a few holes in mind when I decided on a high trajectory club.  No regrets.....   --  just dandy

I know everyone is looking at the L96 specs. I decided to give the L88 a try as only just approaching 94 so no R1 yet. ;(

I use the SLDR, I have to say that in almost every way the L88 BB does as good and better then it. The high loft does come in hand, yep it lofts higher the the SLDR and it seems to carry bit more distance with it as well.

The drive seems to work best with either FB or 3/4 BS. At 3/4 it's like hitting the SLDR center ball.

Still learning what it can and can't do. It's very good in headwinds still holding about 90% distance in most case, low headwinds it can hit 300+ sometimes  depending  on course.

It draws and fades really well, Oly trees are not an issue at all.

Rolling out for funky bounces on RSG etc works well too, for that that do that. ;)

The BB 3wood is just killer, I love it. Stopping a L90 RZN at 239yrds with a 5mph tailwind? Yes please. ;)

Oh and ya, if you miss the ding too early the L88 driver will bite you in the ass - hard.

So overall is the BB L96 a solid replacement for the R1 all courses or a niche thing? Any one:)

    EDIT:

Off my shopping list anyway now.  Probably not much of a difference even in use, but the R1 will suffice very well until L100 comes some distant day:

If I am going to buy something mainly because it's shiny may as well be the shiniest:)

IMO if your an owner user of the level 89 SLDR or the level 83 X-hot Callaway and dont want to wait for the R1 which is only available at this time until level 98 then i highly suggest the BB driver. Now if you already own the R1 i see no reasoning in wasting 3295 credits for a driver that is essentially the same. But thats just me. I did rent the BB driver when it first came out and saw no benefit to me personally regardless of course or specific hole worth the 33 bucks.    But WGT did get my rental fee and are happy !  lol

Of course no one knows for sure if the R1 wont be offered again at the Level 93. Last time was Thanksgiving 2013 if i recall correctly.
