    ^That is correct, a All-black R1 at 11, 48, and 93. I got the ones at 11 and 48, used the one at 48 until I hit 96, from level 68.

I gotta admit, I seen nothing to sway me towards the BB driver from the R1................. Now the Nike at 100 just might, but we'll see in the summer of 2018 :-)

I know this is a BB thread, but the L100 Nike has been mentioned.  I'm still on the fence about it, so far haven't been convinced that it's all that much better than the R1.

Would appreciate any input from anyone who's used both.

mkg - you should have a free rental weekend next weekend to hopefully try it out for yourself.

Nike is much better at Oly

better at CCC BPB (Oak Whistler for me to)

Not near as good as R1 at RSG Cabo STA (I like it at StA personally, easier on drivable holes)

    50-50 on the rest

Spammage, fatdan, thanks very much, very helpful...and free rental weekend sounds like the ticket.

I've played a few more rounds with the BB driver and have to say I like it a lot.  I ended up getting a plus bag so I could have 2 sets and easily change though as I don't think this driver suits St. Andrews or RSG, especially in heavy wind.  I use the same other clubs and ball, only the driver is different.   For these courses and any high wind round I stick with the R1.

So, to answer Jimbog's question, no, this isn't a definitive replacement for the R1, I think you need both to play your best.  At least this is my assessment so far.

The 3 wood just keeps getting better, if a little hard to judge distances sometimes.  I used it off the tee on Merion #8 last night with a 14mph mostly tail wind.  Took a bit off the power and it hit the ball 298 yards, just into the rough on the right side.  I certainly don't find it too unforgiving compared to the R11s.

Me and my big mouth.  This was my very next shot with the 3 wood after writing the post above.  Wind is very slightly right to left, the aimer was on the hole and the shot was dinged.

Not the ideal way to start the day.

With me there would be two more shiny brass parts in there, but right idea H.
