landed on fringe behind flag stick 40 lie,6 yards away took a risk took a chip,(small 50 6 yard  its distance i with held a bar about 5 power i hit it )needless to say i had a 14yard uphill putt triple bogey, had a quad  bogey earlier hole but was still in game at 13 ,plus 3.im not afraid to say i like oakmont, something needs to be done with the greens at merion and there is 1 or 2 at  olympic  gets my *** ,i wont play them courses anymore unless  you can visibly see the mountains ball is rolling down .14 yards uphill putt? chipping from a club 40lie in rough, bypasses flagstick:)

    Poor guy!

    Practice, and you'll become better!

Apart of that, there is no 40% lie on fringe, risky chips are unadvisable, triple bogeys happen.

    Take care!

What an interesting post. I assume English is your  second  language. I agree with Alosso but sadly if you have not learned the nuances of this game by level 99, I am not sure there is a lot of hope. Perhaps it is the pink balls?

Do not be put off by the "harder" courses, consider them a challenge and take notes and learn from your mistakes. As for #13 at Merion, try a punch shot from the tee and leave the ball below the hole.

Bob, this is obviously only my way of playing but I almost never use the chip and certainly not from rough.  Equally not to a green that slopes away from you like that one does.

I'd have gone with my 64 wedge and played a pitch with full back spin.  Chances are the ball would still have rolled well past the hole but it should stop quicker than a chip shot.

The back pin on that hole has always played the wrong distance, play a few yards less and put up with sometimes having a long but uphill putt.  A birdie putt from 20 feet below the hole is better than a par one from 30 below.

Don't let the tough courses get to you, the satisfaction of a good round is all the greater when everything comes together.

I'll try to catch you for a game there some time, I'm no expert but may be able to give you some tips.

    I read:

Hope some girls like your company regardless, I don't envy you. Enjoy your day!
