5.5 ft power putt from fringe goes 4 inches...

  I've been kicking it, tossing it and fluffing the lie ever since!

  Since I now hit mainly 3W or 3I into greens now my GIR sucks.

  But these new shot types have been a life saver.  Thank you WGT!

  

  Fluff just changes the lie.  Above I chose the Fluff shot and it changed the lie from 40-50 to 20-25.  Neat huh?  Even better it doesn't cost me a stroke!   Kick It is a stroke saver in those nasty pot bunkers on St. Andrews and up against the wall.  But it doesn't work well in the  30-40 lies in Oakmont bunkers.  In that situation the Toss shot works well to get out of the church pews because you can throw it nearly 15 yards onto the fairway.

  Just awesome new features from WGT.  Thanks again WGT!

  I might even try adding less if on the edge.

  @Jake: I did go back to that spot on #10 BP and tried to putt from just on the edge of the fringe, maybe 2 inches in the fringe.  I putted it at 5.5 ft of power and by golly it did roll out of the fringe much to my surprise!  And it rolled 23 ft, which would have been 4 ft past my target of 19 ft down 10.  I learned something today, thanks Jake.

  I have no problem whatsoever with WGT releasing my input, and you will clearly see that I put 5+ ft of power into the putt.

  However it works, it is much too finicky!

  I  didn't mean to imply you were full of crap.  And no one said you were lying about the power.  Your putt was clearly deeper in the fringe than the one I made.

  chill out a bit.

  Regardless of whether you were or not, it would be nice to know exactly what the difference between the two putts was... besides the fact that your putt went 22.5 ft further than mine did despite it being pretty much the same putt.

  It looks like you have that special "legends tier swing selection" function I've been hearing about, but have never seen.  I thought it was a myth, but I see now, how wrong I was. Thanks for giving me a peek at it in your post.  Gives me new motivation to play well and move up.  Is it true that, once you reach the legend tier, the wind speed goes up to "Hurricane Level 6" and green speed reads "Teflon Coated"?

  Erm.......Yeah, guess it didn't take long for that news to leak out.  Another change to make the game more challenging for the elite players.  But so far only on Kiawah.

  Kinda reinforces the need for a longer driver for Legends, 118 mph headwind and I barely make it past the ladies tees. Although the 380 yard carry downwind is pretty cool.

  Back on topic......having to add more power when putting from the fringe ain't such a big deal under these new conditions.  Here's a screen shot of a replay on Kiawah #10 with hurricane winds and Teflon Coated green speeds.

  

  We could use a longer putter too, 300ft scale ain't gonna cut it.

  I broke 70 with the hurricane winds too.  I shot 66 believe it or not!

  I quit after 7 holes.

  Obviously the ball did not need 9 ft of speed in order to move across the fringe, so between the 5.5 ft putt that went 4-5 inches and this iron shot that rolled into and back out of the fringe is a great example of the inconsistency of the fringe.

  I don't want to hear anything along the lines of "Well, with the putt, the ball is nestled into the fringe, but with the iron shot, it is not."  First off, the iron shot did pretty much come to a stop, and second, there is no "nestling" into fringe.  Call me crazy, but I don't think anybody in the history of golf has had their ball 50% covered in fringe.  Rough?  Yes.  Sand?  Yes.  Fringe?  No.

  After further review the play stands as called on the field. The ball never makes it to the fringe, as shown in view 5.  Basically inconclusive evidence. JMO
