Wedge Found 11 Exra Yards, Free!

  Bad timing for this kinda stuff, WGT. My Vforged wedge rated 130 yards MAX found 11 more yards in order to bury my ball in a bunker. This during the Merion 18 Tournament. Yes, I got a bogey...

  4mph wind going towards the hole, hole is less than a foot from level with the tee. Regardless, silly stuff like this erases nearly all the fun factor from the game.

  It has been said many times in these forums that for that par 3 we need to use the Punch shot mode instead of Full shot mode to stay out of the back bunker.

  That's what's known as 'local knowledge'.

  The bottom line is, it isn't a bug.

  Please define " bug " then. You've just described an oddball, out of the norm, solution to, as you've described, an abnormality. 

  This obviously wasn't a matter holding the green, but simply flying over the entire thing.

  Hole is 134 yards, club used is 130 yard max, my ball flew in the air 141 yards. In there somewhere, I can assure you, is a " bug " that Stevie Wonder could plainly see...

  Assuming you mean 9i rated 130 give or take a couple of yrds from the fairway, no spin, no wind.....not from the TEE! 145 with a tailwind wouldn't be surprising on that hole.........

  Your L85 Vforged wedge is rated at 115, so I think you hit 9I which is likely rated at 130 but off a tee will carry a bit further.  If you hit it full thinking you had PW, but had 9I with that wind 141yds is possible.

  I've choked down some on my 9I (rated 135) with full backspin with that wind and been close.  It's not necessary to punch every shot on that hole.

  Keep hearing, " that hole this, this hole that..." which is my point, dudes! Yes, that hole, there's something WRONG with that HOLE. To suggest a145 yard shot from my 130 yard club ( a difference of 45 ft )  with a silly 4 mph wind as acceptable is delusional.

  If you've found a fix or work around for the error there, good, more power to ya!. I, however, didn't pay for those expensive clubs and balls to deal with a 11-15 ( 33- 45 feet on a 134 yard hole ) yard work around, nor, quick fix.

  The " fix " I would enjoy seeing is one where I use my 130 yard club on a level tee to green hole with a 4 mph wind towards the hole and be confident it land somewhere in the ballpark of 130-134 yards. And not fly the entire green 11 yards and land in the bunker.

  What could possibly be unacceptable about this desire?

  i agree with dan here but one quick question how many times have u played merion with those irons and ball combo ?????( 5.0 distance nikes yeah itll go lol)

  lvl 90 Legend, played that hole with that equipment more than 90% of the users on WGT have struck the ball...

  I forgot to mention the 5 dot distance ball...

  with  4.5 distance ball and a tailwind I use the 120 PW with topspins depending on how strong the wind is and end up anywhere from 3 yrds short and a straight uphill putt to 1 yrd past hole depending on how good I hit it
