    GolfingSeti:

Just don't say a word when it happens to you. But of course you will...

    * for the record,  I had a small amount of backspin applied, and hit the shot 100% ( 130 )

Of course! What would a bunch of players with several thousand rounds know that you haven't already figured out in 108 rounds....

I won't to say anything because I have NEVER been in that trap, why hit a shot that leaves you a fast downhill breaking putt or sand shot to a green that slopes away to the front...

    Your Welcome!

Something that many players forgot/disbelieve, or don't know about, is the WGT programming which adds something described like this:

Richard4168   (from 'the pro VEM thread')

"Deviation = shot randomness. On most shots, the ball flies or rolls to the target line via an excellent shot (ding), but then there's shots that are sometimes slightly miscued. The Deviation feature keeps this game in a more virtual reality, instead of virtual perfection. Which many have said would be quite boring and non challenging.'

Then I added the same mindset:

"VEM factors in realism (IMO) to the point where you can't actuate absolute 'power' (meter etc) even though you may set it on the scale.

    As in real life you can't say "I'm going to hit this club with 100.3 yards of power." So, even though your meter & power says 100.3 yrds 'there are no absolutes' so a perfect shot will STILL be subject to fluctuation;

It may not hit the mark even if every scale and ding  and calculation says you should."

    ---

The tough pill to believe or swallow is the last line, again:

It may not hit the mark even if every scale and ding  and calculation says you should."

He just hit the wrong shot, and needs to learn more.  Nothing more to that one.

But I would not be playing that shot as I explained.

Luck you only went as far as the bunker then:)  You just need to learn your irons, and then accept some holes do just play a little different, and maybe that 3.10 par 3 stat / some others will start coming down (edit : not many RRs to go by).

I don't know if I should laugh or cry...

I'm " lucky it only went as far as it did ", dude? Well, I guess so. If I were any luckier maybe that 130 yard max distance club would have gone 150 yards in that viscous 4mph tail wind.

You're simply not operating with sound logic, Jimbog1964. So much so, you're starting to worry me a bit. " Learn my clubs ". dude? C'mon, man. Seriously? I know my clubs every bit as well as you think you know yours. You act as though I should be incarcerated for questioning why that 130 yard 9-iron flew 141 yards in those clam, average, uneventful conditions.

Please, take a breath, rethink the situation, and try to collect yourself, and your reasoning prowess.

Not even going to backtrack to see who said I should listen to people who have played " thousands of rounds as opposed to my 130 something  " because just it's yet more mind blowing insanity. Whoever, I'm a that level 90 Legend, who has played " thousands " of rounds. Foot in mouth much?

Does the mind snap when clicking on the Bug Log section of the WGT forums?

    Done...

    Thanks ( I think ),

    Just saying,

I use starter balls religiously (0 distance rating). But I just tried some other balls WGT gave to me with more distance (rating 4 & 2.5) and I played some par 5s and the extra distance and spin yielded me 2 Eagles within a few games, which is good for me, I only have 19 Eagles total of 880 ranked rounds.

I will def do that more often, the extra spin stops the ball so much better on the green and the slower meter speed made playing almost a piece of cake.

99% of my games were w/ starter balls.

    Well played to start with.

L97 since last November is supersonic levelling up.  By the sounds of it though your skill levels (certainly game physics appreciation) are just starting to catch up, and that's not a sleight as you levelled up so very quick.  From Tour Pro Tees even a cheap ball will very visibly operate better than a free range ball, especially with the standard of equipment you have.  That's no different to RL that bit.

I have a feeling the equipment you have will propel you to Master very soon.  Master is quite a jump from Tour Pro, but you have equipment coming out of your ears to cope with it.

Once Master I would say learn the game though as hit Legend, and you could be in for a shock from the car park tees.  Enjoy the ride though:)

Trying to hit consistently ranged shots with those higher level Nike balls (L90) is friggin futile. Those balls have like what? 15yrds of deviation applied to them?

Someone tried to map L90 Nikes, think it was Lizard69, not sure.. ended up throwing the second sleeve of balls in the water because they're not mappable, just plain random and all over the place.

That hole has played short since the 2nd day Merion opened up.

With the R11's I had last year and now the Nike clubs (still with the same ball) it's a punch 8 iron (both punches rated at 134) and then adjust spinn for wind.

The new front hole location plays true (IMO).

Just do yourself a favor and punch something (unsure of your club yardages) that is rated around 134.

The only advice I can offer ( since I'm not that good at judging distance either)... Is to listen to the experienced players. They didn't get where they are by guessing what might happen....They know damn well what to hit and when.

Jimbog is a friend and one helluva player. Your game will improve if you take his advice . And you can " take that to the bank " !..... Or continue the way you are and be astonished when the ball doesn't go where you think it should. No malice intended here. Just the facts. Good luck with your game.
