  Distances on clubs (except putter) are not a linear percentage.

  In fact even with your 52 degree Ping, you can't play pure percentages.

  As it should be, since the 'rated distance' on clubs are "average" rated distances, and I'm fairly certain that those numbers are based on the free ball with no wind. 

   

  I'd like to see it where we each have to manually input our own club distances.  

  For instance, a player with the L97 Nike irons and a high level Nike ball vs myself with the same irons but with the L37 Yellow Callaway.  We both have a 135 yard 9 iron but would/should have different distances.  So I don't even pay much attention to the "rated" distance of the clubs anymore, but mainly what I know the distance will be with my setup.

  Clubs could still be listed in the proshop as they are now, but when you get them, you'd have to figure out your own distances based on your ball and your own use of spin.
