    Woodoworkery:

Let me end with this , how long have you guys been playing this game ? I myself going on 3 years , are you saying we are all idiots and can not master this after all that time ?

I've been here a bit over 4 years and reckon I can play the game reasonably well.  Certainly not in the same league as some but probably slightly better than average.

And I don't claim to know exactly how the ball will react in every situation, nor would I want to to be honest.  Professional golfers play really bad shots now and then, so should we.  If players are good enough to work out the cross wind and distance perfectly and hit the ding almost every time then these shots can only come from some built in deviation.

I know it sucks when you're on a good round and suddenly the ball drops 10 yards short or isn't effected by the wind as much as expected but I honestly think these things happen to everyone so it evens out at the end of the day.   I really don't think there is anyone who has a flag beside their name on the WGT system meaning they get extra VEM, there's no benefit for WGT in doing this.

And yeah, I agree it is addictive but as far as hobbies go I think it's pretty good value.  As long as you aren't paying real money for those $7.50 balls, that price is just silly.  We used to buy good drivers for that much.

I would say that roughly 15 people will not even card a score, for whatever  reason. Anyone else care to take a guess at the number of non-posters?

Take a guess ... I double dog dare ya ...

It'll be higher, at least double that...some will just not have the time, and I don't think the WD's will show as WD...until later rounds..so between WD's and those not able to play...40 maybe?

Really close ... 46 players didn't post a first round score. I was so far off,  I'm gonna trade my crystal ball in for a used Chevy with a stick shift.

Hi Mainz, well I am one of those guys that pays real money for balls and clubs, so I guess thats a big part of my frustration. SHHHHH don't let the wife know

I got a little carried away yesterday (too much Fourth of July ) . I do understand *** happens and not every shot will be spot on.

But watch every one who has scores low this round will struggle next round and the ones with 60+ will be ALLOWED to score SUB 60.  Used to see it happening in Country club 4 round tournaments, so will probably be similar in US open.  There's probably a few lucky players (also with skill thrown into the mix ) who will get deviation free rounds on top who are going to get low scores all 4 rounds but the rest of us un-chosen ones will probably get mixed rounds.

I wrote this above when 1st round was being played,

Look at the leaderboard at present now a few players have played round 2, every one who has scored sub 58 first round scored over 60 and ones who scored over 60 have been allowed to score sub 58.  Coincidence??  or the fact i've seen It happen loads of times in other 4 round tournaments its how the game plays, Certain players get 4 x low scoring round, whilst the un-chosen ones get average rounds & good rounds mixed

Can you use Zong to make payments?   A nice way to hide your WGT expenses.

I hope that's the case Chris, cos my 1st round 65 is due to me being in a hotel room and having to use Premier Inn WIFI plus my laptop, instead of my desktop at home.

I figured I could post 4 scores around 60-62 so I hope I get my 57 to straighten it up.

As a regular player of RG's, I agree with this.  It does seem to me that when I have a really low round in an RG (which is maybe one out of 10 entries), I can count on getting no breaks the next time I play it... it's usually 2 things... bad wind direction and lipped out putts.  I played Whistler last week and shot in the mid 50's... the next time I was -9 thru 10 and made no birdies the last 8 holes...mainly deviations, where I thought I hit the right shot but somehow was 15 feet from the hole, followed by a near miss with the putter.

This is EXACTLY what I have been saying for months/years getting loads of abuse for saying It, ready go's ARE manipulated, but they dont target any one in particular its just the way the game plays, its same for every one, Its like WGT share the wins between every one, but we all see this happening to us, and as i mentioned with the 4 round virtual open players like myself and CMcCarntney, and plenty of others will get a mix round where you score well, score poorly (similar to what happens if you do well in a particular ready go) but It seems a "handfull" of players seem IMUNE to the deviation we all seem to suffer and always seem to score sub 58.  No matter how many notes you take on a particular hole or shot.

    Thanks for jinxing me Chris!!...lol!

    63-63...I aint scaring no one!

But, to be honest here, I missed my dinger mark too early and too late on the wind, and left some Up hill putts short.

Other than one WTF shot, my 63 was all on me.

After opening with 64,  this was my chance to score sub 60.  Good winds on almost every hole, no funny business, no lip outs.  I just suck at putting.  Shot 62 and missed 6 birdie putts in my throw-up zone (8-10 feet).  Two of them really frustrated me when they came up short.  Last hole... 7.7 feet, up 3 inches... I hit it 11 feet and it came up the dreaded .0000002 inches short on champ greens.  Should have been a 58 at worst.  Only missed one green (the long par 4 on the front), and average distance to pin was 10 feet.  Damn...
