If I have the option I deliberately play long to leave a punch back to the hole.  That way you're hitting into a slight up slope so can control the shot better than when playing from the front of the green.  From behind the green I can usually be sure of making birdie, an eagle needs a lucky punch.

Ditto, I have that shot down pat....lol

Yep. A 3rd shot from fairway behind the green is a good option.

But from fairway just in front of the green (15 to 25 yards) a 3rd shot can also be made that finishes close to, if not in, the hole.

These are great. I had no idea you could bounce it along that hill and run it down to the hole like that.

3W is the BB at 245 yards. Spin 1.5 This may help stop the ball w/ the right landing.

Then as stated, the area in the 'bounce zone' I would still try to hit.

The only big challenge I've experienced is that too much BS, or a wrong landing,  in the bounce zone may stop you dead before the green, too little, or a bad bounce, makes it go too far past, and too far left hits the hill and rolls back and down.

    See the replays here:

'the area in the 'bounce zone'  as clearly shown by alberrich using the BB as stated

Lot of work, practice  and experience on this shot. (lol)

The landing point of the ball must be very accurate, Once selected you shot its distance

Anyway if you miss it you are not in distress because around the green there is only  fairway, no rough, bush, water or other trap, so you have a 3rd shot to do with a wedge. Possible eagle and safe birdy.

In fact you are not worse position than other ways and when it successfull you have the pleasure to miss a double eagle for one yard ... :)

And a day may be ... by Grace of God ... ^^

Edit : i post some shots : alls are on the right of flag, the problem i cant solve is the small deviation when the ball enters the fringe.
