    You're right! lol

ok I made the post at 4 am-ish.

But when it's to the right, I try that method. When it's moved, I'll try the SOP. But since I'm not using starter ball anymore, and I use high spin as needed, even Pinehurst greens have been very playable lately.

    micheldess:

I have problem with this hole, can't stop the ball on green on  the second second...  specially when the wind is in the back , how you hit this one   to stay on green (without little bit  luck) ?

alberich and fidanza, read my first post... the third shot don't interesting me, with the wedge i make birdie 95% of time, i don't need a solution.

Only the long second shot  when playing from legend tee from 240, 250  or 260 yards when the wind is in the back interesting me, and i don't find a solution to stop the ball on green without luck to try eagle because i want a chance to make eagle here too.

Michel, read my first post and look at the replay. I did it for you the same day you ask for. That's one way for land close the hole on second shot.

It's a 205 yrds second shot which show  the right place to bound, And notice it's stop  one yard within the hole (for double eagle, not birdy lol)

Of course for the need of illustration dont did it from legend tee and choose slow wind. Had not the week to practice STA until i get 20 mph tailwind on hole 14.

I see your shot from 205 alberich,  don't worries.

But  205 is not 250 or 260  and this is not the kind of shot i have  to play from legend tee with the second shot.

Even with 20 miles in the back and a 360 yards drive from legend tee still left  at least 250 yards  and this is the kind of shot i search a solution...  to stay on green without luck just because i always try to be a better player.

i'm sure the top 100 players on wgt  find the way to play that shot pretty good and maybe have an apportunity for eagle.

Et je parle français hein c'est juste que j'essaie d'écrire en anglais pour que la masse comprenne lol

It pays to be aware of where your second shot will land, but it is a tricky shot. You are doing well if you develop any consistency in getting your 2nd shot to stop on the green.

Landing on a down slope will add lots of yards to your shot. Landing on an up slope will kill roll out.

You have to avoid the steep up slope at the right front of the green, and you have to be mindful that the slope across the front of the green will cause your ball to break from right to left or away from the front right hole placement.

simply put, looking for an eagle from 260 will get you a lot more pars than eagles on that hole...

I've tried every shot from every angle and been on the green in 2 maybe 3 times total, and made a 19 ft putt for eagle once! Never been on it from 260 yds out except for the ones that roll back down the slope on the front of the green for a impossible putt...

why take the chance anyway with #5 #9 #10 and #12 all possible eagle holes with a tailwind....

Every now and then I get on the green in two.  I have made some eagles by putting; however, I made a lot of them by using my wedge off the green.  Check out my replay on6-1-2014 when I made a double eagle from 280 yards out.

I did read your 1st post, my 3rd shot was after I was in the weeds.

If I'm not mistaken the longest 3W is the BB at 245 yards. I think it's the only wood with this power that has the best spin at 1.5. (which you have) This may help stop the ball w/ the right landing.

Then a ball w/ added distance, like 5.5 dots of distance like some ‪NIKE balls may help if you can't reach, as I would figure a BB or R1 (287yd which you have) drive plus approx. 6-9% (or more) from the ball w/ land you over 310 yards on the drive alone.

But I'm sure you are aware of this.

Then as stated, the area in the 'bounce zone' I would still try to hit. (rather than left and over the small hill)

The only big challenge I've experienced is that too much BS, or a wrong landing,  in the bounce zone may stop you dead before the green, too little, or a bad bounce, makes it go too far past, and too far left hits the hill and rolls back and down.

When the flag is on the right hand side I think myself very lucky to have an eagle putt, to climb the slope with enough speed to get up but then be slow enough to stay on the green is very tricky and for me involves as much luck as skill.

If I have the option I deliberately play long to leave a punch back to the hole.  That way you're hitting into a slight up slope so can control the shot better than when playing from the front of the green.  From behind the green I can usually be sure of making birdie, an eagle needs a lucky punch.

From in front of the green I aim further right than the wind would usually require and play the shot a couple of yards short and with plenty of back spin.  Most times I'm close enough for a good chance of birdie but not always.

A bogie only really turns up with a strong head wind and not being able to clear the rough in 2 shots.
