When OM was introduced, there was a lot of discussion on the boards about how difficult it was, and the main concerns seemed to centre on the greens. Now that a goodly period has passed, here are some observations:-

    Pro's

It is an 18 stroke play course and is in Blitz

It helps to keep my handicap firmly in the Master stratum, as I can always play it a few times each week, with my OM "par" of 75 - 76 pushing my overall average up.

    Con's

Not included in the weekly tournaments. CC tourneys or CTTH

Avoid bunkers at all costs. I have yet to see anyone explain how to recover / get out of the bunkers advancing the ball more than, say, 100 yds. Punches and wedges seem to give the same result. Almost a guaranteed bogey ensues, but that's o.k. by me as bad shots get punished badly (see Pro's above)

Putting meters seem to be inaccurate as to distances, slopes, arrow lines and speed, but that could just be me.

When I scroll nearly every user's profile (whilst playing on Blitz or MP games) I rarely, if ever, see OM scores in their profile. This seems a waste

Anyone else have a view on OM, and maybe how WGT can make it more a part of the overall experience, as at the moment it seems like it's the ginger stepchild of the family?

It is a great addition to the site.  You are on target with what you said, it is a little too difficult to play so most people avoid it, just too tough to be enjoyable for 90% of the players on here.  Putting is not accurage, esp at the higher levels, the change in elevation is tough to figure and put a high wind on this course and very tough.

I can score okay on it but you have to stay in the fairway at all costs.  I think all the initial hype was way over blown.  This should be an example to WGT, not all the US Open courses need to be on the game, this one probably shouldn't have been.

I like the course. Reminds me of some of the courses I played while growing up in PA.It matches the lay of the land. It is a difficult course which sometimes makes for higher scores, but It's the challenge that I relish. I am one that doesn't watch his average like a hawk,so a score of 75-80  doesn't bother me. It's the fun of the game that counts.

    I really love Oakmont.

It would be nice to see a slightly calmed down version for general play..make the rough and bunkers just a little easier.

Oakmont is what it is. Its very difficult for the great pro's in the real world.

I love the challenge even though I wasnt good enough to qualify for the open..its still great.

I think the more you play Oakmont, the more you enjoy it. I was really hoping with the new month that Oakmont would appear in the tournaments for this month. It would give it more exposure and an incentive to play it more.

Let's have a Tournament in Oakmont WGT?

i agree with both posts, but i don't like to play it by myself.  thats generaly what happens after 4 - 5 holes, you are by yourself..  because it cannot be enjoyed in a multiplayer venue i think it is a waste.  perhaps dropping it and replace it with something  that does not demand a handy computer or slide rule to make a good shot.   my 2 cents.
