I understand VEM and that it's part of the game.  I accept it... throw my mouse at the wall, buy a new one and move one  :)   It can be very frustrating, especially when your playing in pay tourneys.  Just happened to me.

Week 38 BPB multi-rd.  I left 2 putts a total of 3" away. ..cmon.  THAT's where I get irritated.  Those 2 VEM's cost me.  Went from 24th place to 43rd.  And by the way, the 2 putts I left 3" away didn't start from "way down town"  They were 7' and 6'5.  They didn't go past the hole or to the left or right.  Just short.

    Said my peace

O hear ya, I was finishing a great game at STA and the green had that mean cant on #18. I aimed to properly pull my TM ghost spider with a massive 'pre-ding', and firm power, to curve the ball, unequivocally, into the hole. The ball rolled slowly, around the hole...to the right. So my average will keep going down at a nice speed...

But only at a controlled speed. I can't force it.

Around 1977 I had a game and it was so boring once you had it mastered. There was no more progress or challenge. It was Mattel Auto Race it was "the first in the line of many Mattel Electronics games, and is credited with being the first handheld that was entirely digital.."

And I have to admit, if VEM was any more easy, I would have quit this game, for several reasons, long ago.

    Probably about bullseye:)

For anything titled VEM (no offense to the OP), it started of OK, derailed to cheating (way more a problem than any good ole VEM IMO if the vids are accurately showing what can be done), and somewhere / somehow as ever..

Only difference is one was worth buying, lol.

I enjoy reading these threads.  I have done some major work the last month or two on my iron mapping and calculations and have seen a huge decrease in WTF shots. I expect with some more work to get it even better.  Some rounds I don't know what's even going on and can't get close, between pixel miss dings going way off line or shots just landing all over.  Then there are other rounds that I shoot 26-29 that I feel like I'm leaving shots everywhere missing the easy birdie holes or making a bogey or double bogey from my own stupidity.  Of course we don't hear about peoples own mistakes here in the forums.

Why does that surprise you? Way, way, way too hard!

I concur PBaldwin.  I have many..MANY hiccups and crack-pipe moments here that cost me strokes and many, many $2.50 balls.   If I could have "mastered" this like I did Galaga back in the early 80's, I too would have left this game.

None of us...and I mean that with all seriousness, who play real golf, have consistent, epic rounds every time we play. I hope that I have 1-2 good holes with a couple of great shots.  We drop our shoulder, don't shift our hips enough, tighten/loosen the grip, etc.   So let's think of VEM as that.   You hit the putt fat, you dropped your shoulder a touch.   THAT'S why you left it short or shanked it.   Now, if you want to "fix" those problems, I suggest you contact Peter Kostis and have him give you "analysis" with his Konica/Minolta Biz hub swing-meter.

I've looked at this history of some of this sites best players, and it takes them several rounds to hit that 54, 53 or 52.  They have plenty of 58's with some 60's thrown in, so I bet VEM hits them; for those that say they are immune.

This place, for me, is an escape from reality.  From the things in our life that can frustrate us.  This place, like real Golf and most sports, are a "haven"   A place where we can relax, enjoy our "friends", connect with a common bond and even commiserate.

Let's remember that people.  I think it's forgotten more than remembered.
