I can't imagine why earth anyone would willingly hand over detailed and secure personal information where it pertains to your personal identity.

This is not the case. They aren't asking for anything more than a local merchant would if you were to write a check. All they want to see is an address that can be verified as yours and who you gonna scare with somebody's Driver's License #? Dan redacted the number anyway so it's obviously not an issue.

My problem is that the utilities at my house are in my wife's name.

So are mine but that isn't an issue. They just want to see the address on your DL match the address on the utility bill.

Cool,  I just sent in my stuff.  See what happens.  :)

Is that meant to mean "What can someone do with your DL #?"

I hope somewhere in there there is a joke or something, because if there isn't? Well, ya...

Yes, it's a left-handed rhetorical question. They might be able to cause you some grief with the DMV but if you're in control of your particulars there isn't a problem.

That clerk that wrote the DL# on the check-do you vet them? Same exposure.

Like I said, black out the #'s and they don't have any more info than they had, just documentation that you gave them the right info...better yet use the clone tool and make the last few numbers disappear.....

I could be wrong as it's been a while(2008) but if I remember right they don't ask for anything other than an email when you register, you give them the info if you buy something and register a credit card...I don't use it anymore so I changed the account # on the card....

In MO., they used to use your soc sec # on your license, but that only lasted a couple of years, my wife had it on her license...some states might still do that which would be a problem to me but easily fixed with photoshop or any image editor....

There is only a problem if you gave them false information to begin with, or never registered a card and they have nothing other than a email...

So, I sent in my stuff last week, well thought I did, forgot to add the attachment LOL.

Replied back today and now have my check mark on my profile page.  Can hardly wait to go home and play with the new "Vem shield".  :)

So if you have no intentions of winning a major tournament, what good is it to be verified
