A while back Glenmorangie did a survey of the most beautiful golf holes in the world.  This would be a huge hit here, and should be feasible to do.  If you got Glenmorangie to sponsor it, and put their brand name on all the flags for instance, you could finance it, as it ties into their advertising for their brand.  You could more easily get these courses to let you photograph a single hole on their course than letting you do the whole course, just as it seems to be easier to get courses to do a CTTH.  What better advertising for a course than to have one of its holes on this list?  Can't imagine that would be difficult to get them to sign onto.  Its a great idea, and one that the sponsors/ courses would be fools not to want to be a part of.

While it might sound good it is impossible for several reasons. Reason number 1 is that WGT only has 5 of the holes on here already that would mean shooting pictures of 13 holes on 11 different courses which would be a logistical night mare plus be very expensive as well just in travel expenses. They would have to pay licensing fees to those 10 courses for the use of 1 hole and 1 course for the use of 3 holes.

But the biggest roadblock for WGT is the fact they can't get the rights to use any holes on at least 3 of the courses.  Rights to Augusta National and Saw Grass are owned by EA Sports and WGT will never be able to use any hole on those unless EA Sports gives up those rights and I don't see that happening. And The owners of Muirfield would not allow WGT to use Muirfield for The Open 2 or 3 years ago.

So there are just too many problems to over come for those 18 holes to be on WGT in any form except for the 5 holes on Pebble and St.Andrews.

It was a cool idea. Between both of "our" full lay-outs and CTTH venues, I don't know how many holes we have here, off the top of my head, but we do have some beauties. It would be fun to add here, the choices from our WGT addicts the one hole they consider "most beautiful". For me, it is Wolf #9  ~ SP ~

Which ones are those? (You can count Pebble because we will soon have the whole course.)

i posted this on product suggestion board too.  WGTicon loved the idea, and is going to talk to someone about it.  Obviously, they won't be able to get around exclusive licensing agreements, but they still might be able to put 18 together and get a sponsor for it.

The 5 holes we have are

    # 14  & # 17 St.Andrews and

    # 7 # 8 & # 18 Pebble Beach

But at least for me there are plenty of holes more beautiful than either on of the 2 St. Andrews holes chosen. We have several on here already that are much more beautiful than those 2.  # 9  # 10 # 16 & # 18 at Congressional put those 2 to shame.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder as they say, so a hole one person might find beautiful another might despise

It is a good point Joe, and yet the "Beautiful" aspect proves to be defined in so many different ways; with eyes, ears, nose, heart and a knowledge of history.

Well said Sweetie Pie.  Like Pinehurst 18 is beautiful, because Payne Stewart gave it meaning beyond how it looks.  I think about him every time I putt on that last green.  For sheer beauty though, I love alot of the British and Irish courses that were on the Glenmorangie list.  ;-)
