Is it me or is a 565 par 4 a little outrageous?  Even at the US open, they played it at 529...Unless you are going to have clubs that reflect the reality pro level ( well over 300 yards off the tee, i think closer to 330) at lower rank levels, I think a re-visit to the lengths of some holes is in order.

The last time the USO was there it was a 565 yds Par 5, now a 525ish Par 4. WGT mixed it up as underligned in their work.

We had a thread about it during the real 2014 US Open. Though it was proven that 565 is too long in comparison with that competition, we were told by a mod that nothing would be changed.

    Money beats reality-likeness.

During a US Open each hole plays a different distance each day of the tournament. Each days tee areas and hole positions are different which results in the different yardages each day.

The Wikipedia page for the 2013 US Open shows the hole distances for each of the 4 days of the tournamemnt.

Note that the 4th hole on Pinehurst #2 is listed as 565 yards for the 2005 US Open.

The 2013 US Open was played at Merion.  The 2014 US Open Wiki page lists PH #2 hole 4 as a par 4 at 529.

Note that it was a Par5 then, and a Par 4 in our game.

Recordings of the individual lengths of the Par 4(!) 4th through this year's USO were far lower than that. It's in the forum.

Indeed. They have the yardage set for the previous 2 Open's ('99 / '05) par 5's and not the par 4 yardage of the current year Open.

It actually plays 568 from Yellow (Champ Tees)  LOL

Still an easy par hole regardless of its' distance.

Making it a par 5 would make it too easy...  Why do people not want a challenge?

Whether it's a par 4 or a par 5....it's still a 565 yard hole that you're trying to complete in the least number of strokes (assuming you're playing from the back tees).

That fits with my definition of 'level playing-field'...

Did someone mention Yellow?  I'm at work and my ears started burning.  ;-)

    +1

    In the real USO, it's either a 565 yd Par 5 or a 529 yd Par 4.

In fact, they sacrificed the realism of the 2014 USO for the cost to fix this apparent error.
