VanHalenLover: there is no way feasible to know if it is a purposeful disconnect, or a server or internet problem, among many other valid (or nonpunishable, to be more accurate) reasons.
I'm so sick of people using this idea as a defense / excuse to validate quitting...why can't people comprehend the fact that server/internet/computer failures or real life stuff accounts for such a miniscule amount of “quits” or disconnects…and also because everyone experiences them, there is no harm done to one individual player’s quitting percentage…If a player has that many legit “quits / system failures” then he/she cannot possibly enjoy any sort of online gaming as they disconnect so frequently…which is again, a bit of common sense…And everyone else has the right to know...There is nothing “unfortunate” about it, nor is it a “problem”, because it is shared by all…this is the nature of online gaming and will never ever be perfect because it relies on something that does not work 100% of the time…the internet.
There is no such thing as a valid, or invalid reason, there are only “quits” and completed rounds…the reasons are irrelevant…all players have the right to know the percentage of rounds any other given player completes, as to give THEM a way to better enjoy THEIR experience on this site and this game…This system is for the benefit of everyone as a group, not as individuals…The group needs to know who they have the best chance to complete a round with period, end of story…The enjoyment of many should far outweigh the opinions / perspectives of few, or should I say pride…because that’s what is at stake when someone quits…It’s their pride that is hurt when they hit a bad shot, or lose a match, or win a match and their average may drop…god forbid you climb through the ranks and try to compete, its way to easy to stick around at tour pro / tour master and blow away the “competition”.
Anyone who defends the fact that you (WGT) cannot determine how or why someone quits, stands to have something to lose if and when the Reputation System is put into place…because there is no downside to such a system…Why would anyone not want something in place which is designed to better their experience and ability to complete more MP rounds?? The ones who defend quitting, or are against such as system, are either repeat quitters, or enjoy being quit on, either one is wrong.
Nobody said anything about punishment, it is just another stat that is viewable to all players about all players….just like you can view their score history…which to me is just as important…you have the ability now, to try to determine whether you think someone may be a sandbagger by viewing their recent scores… why not be able to determine whether you think someone is a quitter??? Nobody wants to play a round with either type.
