    PRStevenson:
Question: If I'm playing the game with others across several continents via Multiplayer and the game is working fine, then suddenly everyone experiences major lag and meter stutter at exactly the same precise moment, what's most likely the cause?

Hypothesizing of course, server congestion at Silicon Valley One DC.

This game is a joke of errors compliments of WGT. They have the game set to alter shots so that we use up balls faster and have to replace them sooner at a higher cost. Everyone of my games has been a farce of planned errors on wgt's part. I have sent email after email to members about wrong greens speeds, meter slides by, shot distances wrong, putts rolling just short of the hole ad all I get is lies to cove r what their actually doing. It's illegal and will be dealt with. For now I am going to use the Free WGT balls and whatever happens , happens because i will not waste any more money on a beta game that gets worse every day.

    Hey fancy-

You ever thought about moving into a Faraday Cage?

    just sayin'...

LoL... Yep, leave it to MS to leave that on by default. You'd think that given the use of SSD's in the last couple of years they would have made that on option Off by default thing.

Windows 7 does detect SSD's and they are not included in your defrgamentation

Thanks CS, as suspected. Frustrating as it is I presume we just have to deal with it and wait for it to go away until they add new servers or upgrade the existing ones?

True that is...The version of Win7 I use is a 'black' gaming build I got from a friend years ago, it has a lot of core services utils etc removed, defrag is one of them. I use it on the T61 which is not using an ssd.

I haven't actually used Windows defrag in years, think last i used was perfect disk. My SolidWorks machine I used last year to play on did use ssd's. Everything else is a Mac. I don't defrag drives, I've always just found it easier, faster to just blow the drive away and drop an image back on it.

I went about playing with a retail version last night, wanted to see what it did with different drives. Not that anyone uses them I don't think, but defrag still set up with the  hydrid drive I tried, don't remember even buying that drive.

Similar thing just happened to me. Playing a match with one other guy, front nine, no problems.  Suddenly on the back nine the meter is all over the place, stops, shoots to the end.  No control, no enjoyment.  This issue has been going on for a long, long time and I don't see WGT doing much about it.

The WGT quote of "This being said we are..." was from Feb 2011.  Pretty crappy investigation, I would say.  I've lost quite a few expensive balls due to this issue.  WGT is happy to sell me replacements, though.  PRStevenson is right on; this is not being addressed adequately and is ruining what used to be a fun game.

Stuttering, skipping meter motion is mostly a networking/connection issue. No one ever accused me of being a cheerleader for WGT, however in this case what that particular issue there is only so much they can do on their end. Are they doing it? I seriously doubt it as it would take boatloads of cash, like way more the the first three Cash Crashes brought in that's for sure.

In saying that, really you just have to mess around with your setup / configuration until it plays right with them. It does change, it can be good for months then just fly apart like a cheap Versace knock-off.

As for the seeming early clicks, the 'turbo meter', the slide-by's (click well in advance and watch it slide by the ding and stop about 4 bars late. Those are mostly a result of the timings which are being thrown at your meter/shot profile when you execute your shot. If your connection is crap or your mouse is junk then you can get issues that look like these shots.

There is nothing you can do about that except learn to try and anticipate them. You'll never do it 100%. WGT won't and shouldn't do anything with this, if they didn't do it then all the auto-mouse clicking programs, macro apps would work like 99.9% of the time again.

One other thing to take into consideration is whether you are on a Mac or PC they both handle input differently. You can through using a third party app get OSX to operate more inline with Windows using raw input, which helps to cut out that floaty/laggy feeling mice can have on Mac's.  I use it on my 2007 iMac, if I disable it I have no shot at coming even close to being execute shots properly.

Respectfully disagree.  It was shown years ago how the meter can be drawn/shown/animated/rendered/whatever on our screen without any connection to the internet.  Practice swings could be taken, and when we clicked to ding then we got the disconnect message from the game client.
