Simmo, try changing your putting scale to 15, or 30 on your Rossi putter. This will putt the ball out of the fringe without any hang-ups. Better yet, don't change the putting scale value the caddy offers on a fringe putt. It may take a few putts to get used to the higher values on the putting scale.

This will solve your fringe putting woes.  : )

When putting on the fringe - i use the ninety scale and it helps a lot. The ball comes out of the fring smoothly.

I use what ever scale best suits the putt being attempted. And I have sunk some very long putts from the fringe lately. But one thing that seems to have been overlooked in this thread is that if you are on the fringe you need to add at least 3 feet to the putt. Also it seems that the better putters like the daytona and both redwoods do a much better from the fringe than the other putters. The WGT putters are quite simply awful from the fringe. Another thing to remember is how much fringe you actually have. In some cases there is so much fringe that it is virtually impossible to putt from. One hole that comes to mind is # 4 at Oakmont. The fringe is some 20 yards deep and in that case the putter is out of the question.

I have gotten so frustrated I have gone to chipping only off the fringe. I have to say it has it's upsides. I have gotten a lot better at my chipping and the number of holed shots is about 15 now.....

Not quite sure what you were conveying with the putt example.

All i am pointing out with this David is the fact that this game is sold as the most realistic golf game on the internet which i think it is.

However the fringe does not act like a real fringe by stopping chip shots dead on the first bounce or giving far too much resistance whilst putting from the fringe.

They need to address the resistance on the fringe whilst putting and they certainly need to address the problem of a chip stopping dead on the first bounce.

Wow....stopping on the first bounce....even with full backspin I have never seen that....

Very good points to keep in mind Sting.

Yeah Sarge, it seems like sometimes the fringe gobbles-up the ball, even on a long iron shot.

Do you think the type of ball has anything to do with it, just curious, I have not seen that at all. I know it is hard to get out of the fringe putting but I have not seen it stop dead there. But I have to admit I was not looking either.

I believe if you use full or 3/4 backspin on the ball it will stop dead on the first bounce if the ball doesn't clear the fringe in the air. (does muff or blade of club catching too much turf behind the ball ring a bell?)  Thats why you should be careful when "chipping" more then 2-3 ft off the green.... side note, all bets are off chipping on links course's. lol

My experience using the chip shot has been 25% air and 75% roll w/backspin. The pitch shot is the more favorable of the two, but you really have to be careful with the speed and distance. IMHO

Please don't take my reply as a "dig" to your comments.

i'm with the op.....they need to fix the fringe ....or give us a cricket bat or similar...because i'm sure there'd be more accuracy.....i just fecked up a 5 under par score 1/2 way through a game because of the damn fringe curse.....and ended up so pissed off i never finished what could have been a decent round due to the fringe curse.

even if we were permitted to use our feet and kick the ball...that would do,

this is my only *** with the game.

i go pottering along like a pro....but when i'm unlucky to land on a fringe it descends into a fecking lottery whether the ball will have flight or move a millimetre....which it usually does.

fringe shots are an art which i'm great at in real life...but this nonsense we are faced with on wgt is a pain in the butt.

never mind flop shots...punches etc....just fix the damn fringe shots because it makes the whole thing so amatuer.

is it so difficult to recode the fringe shot so that it become more down to technical expertise rather than the raffle it is just now.

i normally dont have a problem putting from the fringe but i had an experience today. kiawah 18th 2nd shot went past the hole into the fringe - basically just off the green. had a 20 foot putt 10 inches downhill on very fast greens. hit it with 10 foot powa n dinged the shot - AIR BALL! - sucked it up and proceeded to putt from the exact same spot and it went in the hole for par using the exact same shot - go figure..
