When I started this little mini-league,my aim was to make new friends and bring clubs closer together over a nice friendly but competetive game of golf,in the past week I have achieved anything but that.

I have players refusing to play and ccs not wanting to play other ccs.this was not my goal, and I feel I have failed in what I started out to do, I apologise to all concerned.

We have had a few mishaps along the way,I expected that in what has been a new venture for me but the last match has been a nightmare.

After having conversations with both parties involved,I can sort of see the reasons behind what they did,the blame lies firmly with me im afraid,if I hadn’t changed the format none of this would have happened which was pointed out to me(I broke my own rules).

In hindsight I wish I never had but that’s history now.

Its certainly a massive lesson to me and I am a very quick learner,it wont happen again.

Im starting a new comp soon and I want the clubs who are in my mini league  involved.

They are three great clubs with some really friendly cc members,I have enjoyed all my games and had a great time with my opponents win or lose, actually I won all four. well lost one but i was a replacement so dont really count lol.

I have a great rapport with their captains and they have been there for me when I needed some advice or a point in the right direction,

That’s why we should move on from what has happened, lifes too short for that

Im looking forward to the next comp and SE LINKS,FAPC,DGCC AND NQHP are the first teams on the group sheets please.

Paul you have done a Stirling job and I for one will tell you now it was never your fault, if two grown men cant play each other in a friendly manner after someone put a lot of effort arranging a great  tournament then they should maybe drop out of the next tournament you put up. I think because this is the first time its been trail and error at times but that's the only way forward. Now we know we should maybe draw up some rules for the next one to make it clear to everyone who plays in it.

Ask all the captains what rules they would like to see or if they have ideas for rules before you start the next one if it takes 3 to 4 weeks until it starts all the better at least then we know all captains are happy with the rules and everyone knows where they stand.

But as I said before you have done a great job and NWH have enjoyed it all the way. And if you need any help you just have to ask

    cheers

hi paul, i think you have done a wonderful job, and dedicated a lot of time to this competition, i recently played you in a match and it was a pleasure. the only problem i have seen is with the fixture 6 mate, where an  away team was  trying to dictate were the home team plays, anyway that's history. this was the first attempt at this mini-league so i am sure plenty of things have been learnt from this first attempt. i know myself and my team mates at sel are looking forward to defending are crown. keep up the good work paul and without people like you we would not of had a tournament in the first place. my only advice is what ever the rules are at the start all the teams must stick to them

I totally concur with Gary, if it wasn't for a couple of let's just say...awkward people, it's been a fine competition and SEL has enjoyed the experience.

These kind of things are always learning experiences, I keep thinking, damn why did I do that or didn't do that for my CC competitions, hindsight is easy.

WGT would be a lot duller if it wasn't for people like you thinking up ideas for the rest of us to join in, we can only help tweak things as we see them.

Looking forward to the next one.

    Cheers

Just had a great game with Gary (happyman123uk) that ended in a draw with us both having 48 points (with me getting +3).

We played the best of the par 5s

Up to the 12th I was comfortable with a 1 point lead (net 4 lead with the +3). Then Gary eagled 13 and 14 and when he birdied 15 to my par it made it all square when the +3 was added in.

But that wasn't the end of things as Gary then bogeyed the 16th and after the 17th I was just 1 point behind (net +2). And blow me if I didn't hit my 2nd to the 18th early into the rough on the left of the green. Gary then went on to eagle again and my par was the extra 2 points he needed to draw the match.

Great game with a great opponent.

OK this is the score card I won by 3 shots but had to give Scarletbegonias 3 so it ends in a draw photo full18matchplay.png:550:50]
