More pins on existing courses would help a bit, now that should not be too difficult ?

New set of pins for Oakmont for the U.S. Open coming in 2016 according to WGT ... and I would expect a new set of pins for Pinehurst within the next .... (insert subjective timeframe) ...

They're more than likely going to be busy with Pebble and Chambers Bay , so we may not get those new pins on Pinehurts soon.

A new set on Olympic and RSG are way overdue ...

Only possible if the photos were taken at the time.

mmmmmm more forward planning was needed then. Saying that it cant be easy doing all those shots, to be honest still cant get my head around how they did it, but the courses mentioned with 1 pin position are getting a bit stale indeed.

    From this thread:

    MisterWGT:

We shoot multiple pin locations and have done so for every stroke-play course.  That said, each pin location equates to several thousand photos to review, edit, color-correct and insert into the game.  Thus, over the years, it's always a balancing act between new course production schedules & additional hole locations.

They did their forward planning.  And if they followed their Hole Location sets they would have shot 3 pin locations, Easy, Medium and Hard.

Does it cost that much more for WGT to do the whole course versus just the CTTH?

Great video, that should be mandatory watching for every member of WGT, especially before granting posting privileges...LOL

Admin is right on for this one.  Not long after I started playing here regularly, I remember reading that it takes 100,000 still shots to shoot a course for us to play.  I don't think that includes the helicopter shots.  I wouldn't mind seeing more courses from tru-golf or whatever it's called, like Cabo and Whistler.

I believe they said it takes 200,000 to 300,000 still shots to produce an 18 hole course.

Great stuff Z. Thanks for posting this. We need to ban together and get a Sticky on this. Also, WGT should have this posted on the Main Page somewhere. A very educational tool with regards to its content.

Ditto---to add, it would be neato to see how this was done at Cabo & Whistler
