Please, please, PLEASE give us an option in the options menu to disable the automatic club selection and distances. Yes, I know we should always be looking but especially in match play with a timer, it's just too easy to not notice that the autocaddy has given you a 110 yard pitching wedge for a 15 yard shot, or that the distance has set up for 100 feet for a 12 foot putt simply because you're in the fringe (and often don't even realize it since it doesn't always tell you).

It wouldn't be so bad if the autocaddy actually bore some relation to the shot but there are far FAR too many times when it isn't even close, and certainly not consistent. It will set me up for a 110 yard pitching wedge to go 40 yards but a 60 yard 64 wedge to go 62 (not including the rough or the wind).

I have no problem with keeping the autocaddy available for those who like it but I am sick of losing shots, matches and balls because my perfectly aligned shot goes 50 yards over the green into a trap or the water, or my 15 foot putt runs off the front of the green on to the fairway.

I'd much rather have to choose my club and distance on every shot than have an inept caddy hand me the wrong club while I'm focusing on alignment and watching the timer.

Practice shot-guessing, too! If you're good at that, you will know before the balls stops by how many notches you have to change the club (using the mousewheel), or if it's a rubbish Chip again ;)

LOL  this always makes me laugh.  If you want to have to pick your club/shot each and everytime,  then just do it.  The caddy only starts you off in a close range of the shot that might be the one for you.

What's the difference? Laziness,  truthfully that's all it is. I understand though,  if you had to do it each time, you wouldn't be able to forget to do it.

I was going to add that to my reply as well, but figured I'd leave a little meat left on the bone for others to enjoy.  ;-)

It's always nice to hear the "perfect" players pontificate. Nobody is asking to take anything away from you but you just have to jump in and criticize something that somebody else might prefer.

We can disable the putter pal--I do because I'd already worked out my own formulas before I got it through my club. We can disable the shot pal; that one I don't because I do actually find it helpful in calculating the distance percentage. I use my options menu to set things up to my liking just like everybody else.

We can disable or enable any number of things, some of which I'm sure you "holier than thou" guys do. What is your big deal about someone wanting to be able to disable a feature they don't want so they aren't tempted to trust it?

I too am lmao...that some people just can't seem to find enjoyment out of anything but criticizing others. Get a life!
