In real life golf tourneys where the caddy gets paid to help their player, how many times when watching them on TV have you seen the player disagree with what the caddy says is the right club for that particular shot.

It is up to the player to pay attention after all they are the one who is hitting the shot.

Upcoming Product Releases - Updated 12/12/14

    • Option to disable the swing caddy so you can pick your own club and shot type

Any update on when we might actually see this?

    No.

As mentioned, you don't have to wait for the feature.

Starting with the next time you play, you can ignore the auto caddy and do your own club selection.

In real life it's the player's responsibility to check and make sure the caddy has given the player the club the player wants.

Shooter McGavin fired his caddy after he chipped one in.

Guys, please keep your pontificating to yourselves, ok? I asked a simple question for which there is a simple "yes or no" answer. We were told four months ago an update was coming to include this. Just trying to find out if there has been any progress.

Nobody is trying to take anything away from you so if you don't have a constructive answer to the actual question we really don't need snarky comments mocking people who would like to have the option available.

If you want to discuss whether or not people should or shouldn't need to have the feature feel free to start your own thread on that topic. That's not what this thread is about.

    Thanks for your consideration.

Concerning your question, nobody knows outside the company. It would be very unusual to hear such interna from them.

Furtheron, their plans change, timing may vary. Remember the announcement of Pebble Beach?

Concerning the OT comments, it's a fabulous example of "the guard", players who feel the urge to protect our host against discerning or uncomfortable opinions and questions. The inofficial First Knight is active here ;)

    No harm meant, guys!

In "real life" a caddie as bad as WGT would be FIRED!

Thanks. That's pretty much what I thought. I do occasionally do a search and hadn't seen anything newer but since I'm not a Forum Fanatic I threw the question back out in case someone who is more in touch had heard something more.

It's not a huge issue to me and only comes to mind typically when I've just had one of those particularly frustrating experiences of losing a ball and a couple strokes to a 30 yard wedge shot that set up as110 while I wasn't being as attentive as I should have been.

I fully understand that it's our responsibility to make sure we pick the right shot and swing type. I'm also a system designer though who understands that creating failsafes to idiot-proof a process is a good idea. It's why we have the beepers and backup cameras on cars, to help protect us for those moments when we lose our focus for even a split second because we've come to trust that the conditions handed to us are always normal.

Personally I hate the wgt caddy as is and really wish there was an option to just turn it off!. So many times in a 30 shot timer game, I've had the misfortune to go past the time limit while setting up a shot only to have the F'en caddy to default back to what he/thinks is the right club.  I know I'm slowing down as I get older, but geese give me a break!  If I picked out a 9 iron for the shot, then let it be a 9 iron and not some VME induced coma dream like dream that the caddy comes up with to make sure I look like a total fool!!!

Note to WGT: we want the option to fire our caddy at the first hole!!!

Gazillions of players outside the forums firmly expressed that they want it the other way - keep your minority opinion by yourself!
