LOL....it still offers the choice.
It doesn't.
Just played 2 AS last night and both times it showed me the option of who tees off first. Unless the post is about something different, each team always has the little pop-up that asks who tees off first. It might be your partners choice, so you wouldn't know, or see it.

Is this something new? When I host an AS, I get the choice of partner but not tee off. On the other hand if on the opposing team I do at times get the choice who goes first.
The host of an Alt shot match (or his partner) have no tee off order choice. The player on the other team (higher of the 2 as they appear in lobby) has the option to tee off or put his p at bat 1st.
It makes sense that the host couldn't choose who shoots first, since he creates the teams. If you win the coin toss in football, you choose offense, defense, or end of field - can't choose everything though.
