We've recently started our 'Calendar Tournaments' season at the Fair Play Golf Club, held from April.

Each tournament is sponsored by one or more club members.  Members are asked to pledge a minimum of 250 credits towards the Calendar Tournament season, and so far the response has been excellent, over 10,000 credits and sleeves pledged for only 16 tournaments.  The pledges guarantee all tournaments will have sponsored prizes.

Theres's only one or two Calendar Tournaments played each month and each one is guaranteed many participants,  but we'd like to have that success happen weekly.

Does anyone have information on the best tried and working system to get regular donations from the club's members to a club 'credit bank' ?

you could try using a paypal account for donations to go  into then use the donation to pay for items

Dave whilst what you say does work, add a caveat, as WGT can view this unfavourably and could result in an account being suspended or worse.

Another way is to set up a challenge and drop the credits this way - again not looked on favourably and in this case WGT take their cut.

Simple fact is WGT have dragged their heals over the CC Bank for way to long, and like everything else, the end users need to be inventive to counter the bugs and features that are not user friendly.

Coming soon.................how long is a piece of string?

You could purchase online gift vouchers and give the winner the number.

Pain in the arrse if ur not in America

The only way I know of transferring credits with no charges attached is to set up a CC tourney and allow only the recipient to play, and stick the credits in as an added pot sweetener.

    All done in 24 hours

To generate greater interest and participation, I want to provide prize credits, on my on, say $5 or $10, for various outings to my members. I have tried to do so using John's example :

    oneeyedjohn:

    pot sweetener.

But, no dice. It won't allow me to enter any amount at John's "here".    Is this normal or am I doing something wrong ?  ~ SP ~

    Hey, Lily.

I'm glad to see that you're doing things like this for your CC tournaments.  Hopefully, you're getting good member response and participation.

The CC I am a member of has real problems with a lack of participation.  There is no active club director, and the owner has been culling non-players, so membership is down to around 60, compared to almost 200 a couple of months ago.  But too many still just don't play.  I set up a 2 round 9 hole par 3 challenge, and was glad to see a high of around 20% participation.  All with free entry fee.  An 18 hole free 4 round, easy conditions, but tee default by tier (more level playing field), only got about 10%.  And the paid tournaments are even worse.  It's frustrating for someone like me who likes to play in CC events..

I've thought about offering to take over as TD (but a couple of non-related PM's to the owner were never answered) so I don't know how that would be received.  There is no feedback thru the club forum.  I posted a question to all members as to "What type to tournaments do you people want?" and only got ONE response.  I've enjoyed membership there, and hate to leave, but that's always the last option.  Any suggestions from you here (or by PM), or from anyone reading this would be appreciated.

    Thanks, Jeff (Phred952)
