    cappiest:

this one will be pretty much a putting contest....if you putt well you will be ok.

    Except for the very gifted few (less than 10 players), the ability of hitting it stiff, hole after hole, seems unlikely. There are going to be some knotty putts to deal with regardless of how excellent one's iron game is. What is nice is that the greens-dots-grids seem to be the best and smoothest rolling I've ever seen. It indicates to me that WGT worked overtime and skillfully to insure that this be true, ;-}

Great to have a new course to play, but as far as playing an actual U.S. Open on here? Well in with Poult's on this one. Looks more like a P.G.A course. I can see myself racking up a few 4 putts around there. Well done WGT.

anyone know the back door for setting up practice rounds on chambers bay, last years trick doesnt work

    last years trick was:

    go to virtual us open
    click create group
    click strokeplay
change course to random - after the first click it goes back to pinhurst so do it again and it will stay at random
    click change game mode
    click strokeplay again
now you can set up the course for front, back or 18 holes ranked or practice rounds.

it doesnt work this year as you cant change the course to random

    any help would be great

    thanks

A wild and wonderful course.  It has a lot of variety and elevation changes, difficult greens.  I do think though that the uphill shots lacked  perspective.  The downhill shots look downhill but the uphill shots not so much.  Maybe this is just hard to do in 2 dimensions, I dunno.  Similar to Pinehurst with no tree trouble but highly penalizing for wayward shots especially into some of the greens.  It will be important to learn which way the greens feed.

This will be a beast for uneven lie play and/or super fast greens.

    Liked the trains!  Woo! woo!

    Good job WGT

I'd just like to make a note that in my original post I criticized WGT for messing with the first hole's true yardage and having it be a 560yd Par 4. Fortunately, they seem to have adjusted the yardages for some holes (#1, #9, #18 come to mind) and #1 is much more playable now, instead of it being a 560 yard par 4 it is a 486 yard par 4. (Which is how the USGA will set it up for at least some of the days, with it alternating between that and a ~590yd par 5)

While it is still 560yds in all other formats (Ranked, Multiplayer), they did fix it for the Virtual U.S. Open Qualifier so major props to them. I'm very thankful that they learned from the mistake that was #4 at Pinehurst No. 2 last year.

It's a very nice course and should have similar scoring to Pinehurst, if not a few strokes better on average. Lot of eagle opportunities as others have pointed out already. A really great addition that should become a staple even after the U.S. Open has passed, I expect it to see a lot of play.

Beautiful looking course. Reminds me of a mix between RSG and Pinehurst(wide fairways and greens that are tucked away). Have only played 2 rounds so far, but I have to say it's definitely the fairest of the US Open courses(shot 1 over in my first round, which is about average for me, but left a lot of putts out there). Looking forward to playing it on the uneven lies setting,as it should be a stern test..fun, great looking course with plenty of options nonetheless.
