Disappointed in myself this week, had lots of good chances to score and just couldn't get the ball close, seems i forgot distances and wind, still had a blast and ready for the next one

I played okay but couldn't make enough 5-10 footers to put up a good score. Birdied #1 with a straight downhill 10-footer and #5 from 23 feet across the slope (lost the replay), but couldn't come up with anything else.

I hit good short shots at #2 from 20 yards and  #3 from 16 yards, but unfortunately missed the 4-footer on #2. Not much else notable until birdie at #5, then played a little too safe with wedge straight upwind at #6 and left 15 feet for birdie, which I missed.

Boring stretch of pars until making bogey at #11, hitting my layup into the left rough and leaving a very difficult third shot. Two more pars and then on #14 I pushed my approach badly and found the bunker. Splashed out to 7 feet but missed the par. Par at #15 after running it on but not getting enough roll to have a makeable putt, then #16 played straight downwind and left a very tough wedge. I landed front edge and rolled out well past, then gave it a great run that kissed the edge on the way by.

I knew I needed a birdie on #17 or #18 to have a good chance at the top five, but left my approaches just short on both. On #18 my pitch ran 10 feet past and I couldn't hole the putt, so that's a 73 after playing the front in one under.

Got off to a great start.....for 1 hole anyway.

Just could not make a putt other than 1 long one to save a par, and missed 4 bird putts of 6ft or less.

Still these are always fun and a great challenge.

Much better R2.  I even got to dream about low 60s for a bit....

I see its not nice to hit in bunker. Hit bunker on 5,12 and 17

Full details tomorrow, after some sleep... but, suffice to say, I came off the 18th half an hour ago, with 5 minutes to spare, gulp... and job well done, holding it together on the back 9 to post the needed score.

After all, it's not often one gets to deny Mags a tournament win... and he still hasn't claimed a Tough-It-Out monthly crown. One day, Mags... one day!

I've been having some putting woes, and am still struggling with the short ones, but I had a stretch where long putts just kept pouring in during this round. I even had a bizarre birdie on #6 with a fringe putt from 47ft that doesn't even show in the stats. Very lucky indeed.

Here's the card, and I'll add descriptions/replays in the morning:

And I should finally have some time tomorrow to get some data into the Stats spreadsheet, so we can see who has done well in the special prizes categories. Apologies for being so slammed that I haven't been able to put those up during the tourney.

Well you can't expect to have a chance to win if only 1 shot ahead of Andy.... :-)

    (Nike Blacks again, thx)
