    spg777:

I can only say what happened to me. My putt was 3.6 feet. I putt and ball goes into the cup. Message pops up (ball taken out of play). On the next tee I look and the hit meter is full white. that's where I started counting from. I can only say, at 216 hits this ball was taken out of play. I do not know how many hits you are supposed to get. I only know how many hits I counted.

I'm not certain, but 'crunching' haha the numbers that are being thrown around, guessing by your scores you are approx. at par, and some are saying that a sleeve of 2.5s are going over 3 full rounds, let's say 3.5 rounds, I'll say a sleeve should be about 240 hits (I know putts don't count as hits, but this is throwing in the putts at approx. 2 per hole) or 120 hits when you correctly don't count the putts....and if you counted right, it may be that you are getting less hits.

My calculations could be off, no surprise, but this should be simple to determine compared to the normal, involved calculations done by wgt members.

Anyone else care to add their honest counts? I might in the future just to see why all of a sudden this is an issue.

edit: looking at Jay's count it looks great for one ball ↓

I just used a brand new cally ball with 2.5 durability. I got 118 hits off of it (9+ rounds, cpl restarts, hits added). Not practice/mulligans. Played the Bandon F9 from red tees to make it easier to hit greens, and grab some xp's while doing it. I only counted hits, not putts.

Also noticed that even after I was given the starter ball, I was offered, on every shot, a chance buy a sleeve of my previous balls. That was pretty cool. A little red circle flashed and if I hovered over it, the pop-up appeared.

I feel I can confirm for you guys that hitting the ball with your putter does NOT count as a hit on your ball life. I have tested this by making multiple putts along a fairway with no change showing on the hits indicator, so I would imagine it would be the same from any lie.

    TEST RESULT.

I'll confirm what Scott said.  Putts from the fringe or fairway do not count as hits.

I had a thin red line on a Nike L71 this morning so I ran a test on the "Play one hole" option choosing Chambers Bay 15, a par 3.  I zoomed in on the Hits indicator and took a screen shot before and after each shot.  I then compared each hit indicator by zooming in again in a photo shop program.  I could clearly see when the hit indicator changed.

    Here's the results:

My 4I tee shot  - hit used (no surprise there)

Putt on green - no hit used (no surprise)

Putt from fringe - no hit used

Putt from fairway - no hit used

Chip on green - no hit used (I was surprised)

Pitch on green - no hit used (I was surprised)

Flop on green - no hit used (not surprised by now)

Punch on green - no hit used (no surprise)

Full shot on green - no hit used (no surprise)

Chip from fringe - 1 Hit used (no surprise)

Mulligan on green - 2 hits used (no surprise)

Pitch from fairway - 1 Hit used (no surprise)

The pitch from fairway was the last hit on that ball, I had 5 hits left then when I started.  The ball was replaced after that pitch, and I was on the green with putter.

As Scott indicated, safe to imagine any shot with a putter does not count as a hit.

Also it seems safe to imagine any shot with any club on the green does not count as a hit.

Good job gents, and I'll be darned on the Fringe and Fairway results as well as non-putters on the green.

Going by Andys comprehensive post, it would seem that when there is no spin dot on the ball, the ball wear does not register a hit. Perhaps that would be the clearest way to explain this.

Good point, oh ye of purple font;)

Quite possibly it's been like that since WGT removed the spin dot when on the greens?

Another case solved by the forum's very own Holmes and Watson.

Well done lads, a fine piece of work.

    Cheers Paul.   : )
With reference to an earlier post of mine in this thread, I have now started a new ball. The count is on.

Keep losing track, lol, the count is off.
