recently I decided that it was time to upgrade my trusty old L59 Ping G20 irons ... 115-210 yds high traj, 3.5 precis, 2.5 forgiv, .5 shap, 3 spin & 4 Meter.
I thought ... Im just going to splurge and buy the latest high level Vapor Nike irons.

Only to find Im nowhere near the required level to unlock the  Level 100 nike vapor.
So.... I look at the other possibilities ... I dont see any irons available to me (L95) that I currently consider to be long term value.

This is what I require ...   120-225 yds irons

With  ...Traj HIGH,  Prec 4,  Forgiv 3.5,  Spin 3.5-4,  Meter 3.5-4
But irons like this, either 1. dont exist and 2. are not currently available to me at L95.

So reviewing the possibilities I find that ...
IF the nike L85 were 225yd irons.   I might give them a try.
    IF theTaylormade L 90 irons had a 3.5 meter.   I'd buy them.
IF the Max L94 irons were 225 yds & 3.5 spin. I'd buy them and be willing to pay more for them.
IF the nike L97 were available to me & had 3.5 forgiv & 3.5 Meter.  I'd buy them.
IF the L100 nike vaps were available to me, I'd buy them as they are  ... ASAP.  lol.

I dont see why WGT will not allow level & status to co-exist within an equipment opportunity.

Why not let Legends buy any gear within say, 3 levels of their current level status & let Tour masters do the same?

This immediately solves my Irons problem/dilemma.

Has WGT considered the possibility of charging a value added fee for adding .5 to aspects of club sets that currently do exist?

Plus say ...    $10 to add per aspect .5 to any 2 club preformance aspects (any 2) (not to exceed 4.0) in any aspect, for a one time upgrade deal. ?

    Just a thought

If you really need the 3.5 meter , then 85 nike irons are your only choice.

Doubt they will change meter on the irons.

maybe some rentals for the us open or the open ?

OP I have sort of the same dilemma and your ideas are good but prob wont happen im afraid.

I have the Nike level 85 and they are good but a trusted friend on here who knows what he is on about advises me the level 90s are quite a bit better......but do i lose credits, with trade in cost added i would be 3000 ish creds out of my sky rocket.

So at present i stick but i think you should go with the Taylormade level 90 and just get used to that meter. IMO

I do not agree with the level system but it will not change as it is part of the business model. I would rather see tier based availability which will not happen and if it did would probably impact the OP.

IMO the real difference between the R11's and the 97 Nikes is meter speed. The spin difference is negligible.

From TM tees your approach distances are not too bad, and the ball you use even with the Lvl 59 G20's should be getting you close apart from perhaps some of the elevated greens.

So my advise is just plug away till 97 - then get the Nikes, unless you think you can cope with the faster meter of the R11's.

I dreaded the faster meter, slowly adapted but I do prefer a slower meter of which the 97 Nikes offer. But the R11's were the real game changers for me - and I still use them from time to time.

^^This all day. Those G20s and 4 wedges got me to Legend back when. And that was with a TourSD ball. You're at the driver/wedge stage of the game and worrying about a 225 yard 3i is a waste of time, IMO. You should be driving to the 3i you have, at least, and if you have to forego an occasional eagle try you'll make up for it in your short game with the extra wedge.

The 97 Nikes are worth waiting for. Like David Carradine used to say...."Patience, Grasshopper. "   ;-)

The RSi2 irons (L 90) have the same meter speed as the Nike's (L 97) now Alan.. (3.0)

And they have more forgiveness than listed too IMO.. so missing the ding a hair won't hurt you (OP) until you get used to the speed.

I'd say the RSi2's are as good.. probably better.. than anything in the pro shop outside the Vapor's.

Yup sorry, a bit behind the times - R11's sadly are defunct. I have not tried the new sticks, but as per the G20's to the G25's - pretty much a new name to keep up with the manufacturers.

I upgraded from the lvl 59 Pings to the lvl 85 Nike VR's and love them.  I find I can apply more backspin to the ball most of the time, compared to the Pings.  Definitely helping lower my AD2P.   I have never felt that being only 220 yds on the 3i was a problem.  I think it will help your game a lot.

Also, my CC is looking for members who enjoy a lot of good, friendly, fair competition.  Fair Play Golf Club.  Check us out if your interested.  Tour Pro to Legends only.
