Thanks for the thoughts and the insight, eaglesfan.

Would like to hear more about

    PhiEaglesFan:
If your company gave you your laptop, Lenovo or not, it most likely won't run this game.

Are they so far sub-standard? OTOH, the minimum requirements given by WGT are so outdated that every contemporary PC should meet them(?)

Social aspects in fori and CS are a separate yet interesting subject - how far would a thread on it come before being closed on flame war? LOL

    But, on the current subject:

    PhiEaglesFan:
Why is it, you suppose, that Android and Apple are trying their damndest to kill off Flash?

Rumour has it that Flash is dead alife, do you think it might be postponed long enough for this game? And what about the post-Flash game?

Obviously it depends on what you do for a living.  A high end graphics designer probably has a decent Apple product that will suffice.  Most of the designers and developers I know much prefer Apple (or Linux) to Windows.  Their machines are typically top of the line, since graphic design and software development are processor intensive.

But for the folks in accounting and marketing rocking spreadsheets and presentations all day, no that's not gonna get the job done.  You've got a processor that's built for math, not graphics.  Your company got a great deal on those machines, because they are built cheaply and easily replaced.

You could kinda say that those PC's just don't have the heart, regardless of their specs.  If graphics can't render quickly enough then, as James Hetfield would say, "Nothing Else Matters."

I think we're good here, and it could probably go pretty far.  I'm just presenting an opinion based on at-length observation.  I called out no one in particular.  My attitude is friendly and my posts should be taken in that vein.  I was a bit miffed in the beginning due to the namecalling, but I let that go pretty quickly.  I think if everyone conducted themselves as such the thread would go on for as long in which insight can be gleaned.

Well, I know that the scripting language that they use is adaptable to HTML5 but I do not know in what capacity.  It could be 0%, 50% or 100% portable.  It's hard when you can't see inside the box.

If I had to speculate, Flash will die a long, painfully slow psuedo-death, kinda like Windows XP.  There's still so much flash content out there now I just can't see it going away for good, at least not in the next few years.  You'll probably end up having to install a stand-alone plugin instead of a browser add-on once all browsers eventually team up on the HTML5 bandwagon to block flash entirely on all devices.  Mobile devices, tablets, phablets and 2-in-1's are all great, but most still pale in comparison to a well-built desktop PC.  But I'm old-school. =)

I believe as long as there are still good old-fashioned desktop devices that flash will continue to stick around as well, if nothing more than a legacy platform, forever hawking its useless Ask Toolbar.

I really hope no one installed that.

    Ah - graphics capability...

Not everyone likes mobilization, so I believe as long as there are still good old fashioned desktop devices that are not "mobilized"  that flash will still be around for a long time

Good point - I once feared the post-flash game would be limited to mobiles, but that would limit the market - too much?

Mobile usage shares are growing so rapidly that it triggered us to design a responsive site, despite having just finished the previous redesign a little less than 2 years before.  You kind of expect your platform to last more than 2 years, but that just illustrates the effect of the mobile revolution.

For the time being the data trends show that people use their mobile devices primarily for entertainment and browsing, but typically still tend do their final purchasing and make bigger decisions with a conventional PC.

As for mobile gaming, I think there are better choices for your development platform than Flash.  It's a bit dated and most people don't want to work with it because it's clunky and stupid.  It has performance issues (like bad meters) and seemingly new security holes popping up every other week.  Just last week Firefox banned it and you had to manually activate it for every single site that used flash.  All because of a security flaw.

I must now apologize as I realize I have hijacked this thread and that was not the intention in the beginning.  And I need to go to bed, but I'm not gonna apologize for that. =)

Once again have a great day all!

I see no hijack - it fits well to discuss options of the game's future.

    Enjoy your sleep! ;)

WGT does QA everything they put out there, and I promise you they work hard doing it

Thank you for the good read. You've always had that knack to dispense knowledge without being a know it all and I've learned a ton from you. Thanks again.

The question I have is in regard to the quote. More specifically, a change in the game via an update. I'll use the new 360 green camera as an example. This took away the reverse view on your op's putts and is quite irritating to just about everybody. How does something like this get past QA? Or was that by design and after 6 years of using it, it's just gone for whatever reason? An integrated defect? Does it take volumes of code to change something like that?

It's easy to sit ignorantly here and think it's easy make a code correction and restore a feature but I'm sure it's not that easy. ( My only experience in programming comes from the TRS80 days where it was line by line statements. Oy!) What does it take to go back to where you were before an update, like putting that reverse view back?

There are more.  Things that worked well for years and years and now don't work.

    • The "Play Now / Invite Friends" box in the main site flashing when a 2nd main site window is open.
    • Window freeze "Loading Zoom Shot" when exiting a replay
    • No reverse view when opponent is putting in multi-player games (as YJ said)
    • Inconsistent operation of camera views on the mini-map.  Its a crap shoot now whether a camera will work or not.
    • Typing a space in the chat of a match play game causes screen to change view.
    •  The annoying "camera sound" on every new view.  Even the initial view.  I've even got the camera sound instead of a "ding" on a shot!  Sounds are all messed up.
    • Declining a CC invite logs you out and the invite remains.

There is a difference between working hard and working smart.  It appears on the surface that WGT's QA does not have the call on whether a release is ready because surely these obvious faults would have been found.  And none of these bugs are user PC related.

How would you grade this latest release PhiEaglesFan?

I am 32 , Been working with IT since I was 15. Don't try and tell me how thing's work Einstein. You talk a good talk i'll give you that but your no better than any other IT expert. You need to simmer down a little and stop dragging threads into some sort of personal battle. The top and bottom line is your a "beeeeep". It's clear to see the forum has not improved and Einstein and his Robots are still hear 24/7 preaching like little lonely men. No wonder I have people inboxing me telling me to not waste my time with you. I must say you made me laugh though. I am going to proceed in playing the game and helping people who ask for help. I'll leave this Forum to Einstein and his Robots.

    xx
