Just saw on my Twitter feed (reported by ESPN's Jason Sobel) that Augusta National will be in the next edition of Tiger Woods... (see below):

Very cool news to report: EA Sports and Augusta National have teamed to include the course in the next edition of Tiger Woods' video game.

I was holding out hope that WGT would somehow get all of the majors :). I hope it's not a big blow to our game, but I (like many) am curious about Augusta and will probably shell out to play it. I'm not a fan of the TW games, but the course is intriguing.

BTW - WGT, I don't need Augusta, just any new course right now :) I think it's been almost 6 months since Oakmont. Would love to see a new, non-US Open/Open Champ course come on-line.

I'm somewhat surprised by that. I wonder were WGT in the running at all and if not, why not? We're constantly told on here that Augusta is too conservative for that sort of carry on. Would be nice to know.

Looks like August wanted to make as much money as possible to donate to charity. I'm no expert, but my guessing that the EA Tiger franchise makes far more money than WGT. Wish that wasn't the case, but again, that's just a guess.

Great find C! I'm a bit surprised Augusta is opening the course up for virtual re-creation, but I'm sure it boiled down to $$$, like most everything else. Can't wait until the end of March to check it out, and of course, attempt to replicate Phil's miracle shot on the par 5 :)

Couldn't agree more with you C! I love the USGA courses, but any new course would be great!

It's still a cartoon. A cleverly produced little clip to brag about Augusta and make you think that's what it will be. Look at the picture-it's a rendering, not an HD pic.

What do you think those stuffy old geezers  will think about their course after somebody disgraces it with a -30?   :-D

YJ... they've already disgraced it by letting it be represented by a married womanizer. Love his skill and talent, not too impressed by his ethics. Nevertheless, the rendentions are excellent but I'll take HD photography any day. Wonder if this is a wake-up call to WGT to get busy and get Pebble Beach on their roster of courses??

OMG Thank you stiff collared crotchety old men at Augusta National. I'm an AVID Tiger Woods video game player and can't wait to play it.

Do you think PB would rival Augusta in golf sim attraction? With CCC on the horizon I'm sure if WGT plans on sticking around they will have to answer, sort of. I realize they're small vs EA but nevertheless, they can't stand pat.

What other course do you think  would have the impact Augusta would have had?

I think, that in the eyes of most WGT users, Pebble Beach would be the consencus choice.  It has history and legend and familiarity (like Augusta National) and beauty going for it.  I've played it a few times and it is everything it's cracked up to be.
