    I just don't get this green at all. We all know that any approach played to the green with backspin runs the risk of running down the hill if it lands short of the pin. Like in the picture below;

    If however you land above the hole the ball very rarely spins down below the hole, despite there being a fairly sharp drop in the elevation of the green. Like so;

    I cannot understand how this happens, given that any putt from above the hole that misses can end up further away than where you started from. This approach shot I hit earlier today being an example;

    If someone can explain this to me I'd appreciate it. Better still if someone actually plays to land above the hole, I'd love to see a replay of one of their approaches going in.

    See #6 and #7 in my Oakmont highlight reel found here, a good 5 or 6 feet of roll back....but keep in mind this was during qualifying, on Championship greens so take it for what it's worth.

    Sorry, I don't have an answer for this. The ball should roll back. The same thing happens to me every time on STA. #11 par 3. If the pin is set back on the high side of the green and the ball lands short, it always rolls back down the hill, however, when the pin is set at the bottom just in front of the bunker and the ball lands on that down slope, it sticks there or rolls up the hill and stops. This is using the little to no back spin provided with the WGT B-XD balls. I don't know why it works that way, but it does for me, so I live with it and do the best I can.

    Wow great shots Lee and Ace. I suppose I really should have asked, do either of you actually play to land beyond the hole with spin?

    ps Loved the punch shot on the green Lee, I never knew you could attempt such a thing....

    I did during the championship rounds, but now I go for right about pin high landing and leave a short uphill putt.  It still comes back a bit but the putt is manageable.

    Yeah... the things you learn when you're messing around.... A word of caution though, the distance is considerably reduced when hitting off the green.

    Good luck!

    I was going to say the exact same thing!  Ive done it with freebie balls and GI-S balls, no difference in result.
