How many times have people asked for practice greens where you can exclusively chip to it from different directions repeatedly and as often as you wish, with what ever clubs you choose, that is what practice is. Or to have the option of just putting on it repeatedly until you get the hang of it. I will like to be able to lob and flop shots unto the green as well. It was suggested that I could play a practice round and do the same. Not so. It sets you up to drive the ball first, then you have to approach and get on the green or in front. Now if I want to practice chipping I chip on the green and then have to putt off the green to do it again, How ridiculous it that. This is not what I call practicing chipping , or flopping or lobbing.
And how to you practice driving, by playing an entire round. not reasonable. All you need is a about 5-6 different locations close to a green to practice chipping from, and be able to move back and forth between them until your hearts content.
I had a situation yesterday when chipping at 7 yd putt, I was only inches on the fringe. with about 3 inches down hill. So I thought I would hit the chip for about 4yds. When the club struck the ball , it did not even move. This has happened many many times and has cost me and friends numerous strokes. In a real game of golf I could have hit that ball with any club in my bag and it should have moved it, correct. So I don't want to hear that it was club choice , that is bogus. It it my opinion is a design fault in the game. Also the only time a ball should not advance forward to some degree is if it is up against a solid object. this also is not so. My friend yesterday., Harely had a shot from the rough around the green, a short shot. He used a lob wedge and hit a reasonable distance further than what was called for. The ball did not move even a centimeter. We need the practice green.!!!
