    Hi everyone.

I just moved to a small town called Leeudoringstad in South Africa. I went to play a round at the local golf club and found out you only pay R40 ($3) for 18 holes. There are 9 greens and 18 tees. Now I will admit that this course won't be hosting any major tourneys, there is no rough to speak of and the greens are really tiny. And the greens are anything but green  ( Browns?). But it's quirky. The 8th hole is a par 3 that measures a 173m (190y) but the challenge of this hole is that there is a massive eucalyptus tree about 30m short and right in the middle of your path. The 1st hole is 523m par 5 with a railway track that runs all the way along the right hand side of the fairway right up to the green( I usually hook it onto the 9th fairway lol).

I'd love to know if any of my fellow wgt golfers has played a real round for less. I know golf is getting more expensive. But if you really want to, you can find some hidden gems!!!

Ps. I would never stop playing wgt. At least here I have a chance to break par😀

My cheapest round, as a foreign guest, was Fort Augustus, south of Loch Ness, Scotland, in 2007:

7,50 GBP for nine holes included the pull trolley and the most hindering display of gorse and deep heather at the track sides!

Best bargain was Durness, Northern Highlands. Due to strong wind, the lady said, "You won't play 18 holes" and charged me only for 9 (around 10 GBP), but I resisted the breeze ;)

I would think the cheapest would be someplace like Syria.

There is only one 18 hole golf course in the whole of Syria!!! It's situated within the grounds of the Elba palace hotel. No mention of the price, but I wouldn't advise you to go lol.

I looked at some images of Durness golf club. It advertises itself as the most north westerly course on mainland Brittain. It looks absolutely fantastic with the Atlantic Ocean alongside one of the holes ( think it's the 18th?). They have a weekly ticket for 50 GBP at the moment!

LOL.  The Russians are bombing the crap out of those clowns.  Will make for some tricky bunkers, I'd say.

    +1!

It's far west on the northern coast, a stunning 9 hole course with 18 tees.

Besides the 9th/18th (own picture above), a 99/142 m Par 3 crossing an inlet of the Atlantic, there's the Par 5 6th (below, 405/462 m) along and around a lake - a thrilling walk!

(6th green from the club's homepage)
