Not sure why people are so worried about another putter getting released. Remember the R1 Black? People still use that same driver today.

I bought the m2 myself, I've noticed longer putts stay on line better. I made this putt the very same day after purchasing. http://www.wgt.com/replay.aspx?ID=a599bf85-3cfe-4ea4-b185-a536012814a2

In other words, the stats increase to me has shown real benefits so far that I've noticed. Putters won't get a whole lot better imo, and the next putter, if better, will only go up in price from the m1 m2.

AgentBrown, saw same thing when i bought the Versa level 96 ...my putting stats became better.

Well, see also that my GIR increased by +5, distance to hole go from 17 to 14 ...

In other words, the putter is good but the putts become shorter and easier. Anyway bought the M1 (new toy)

I dont think that its players being worried about a new putter but more so about wasting credits . The 96+ Versa was the top putter until  the M1 / M2 putters came along . Most of us if anything were looking for a new Versa if anything in regards to putters being added to the pro shop .

Now that WGT has dropped them 5 levels for a limited time only makes those of us who have the 96+ Versa putter act with caution . For those players who are just reaching L96+ this offer gives them options but for those of us who have already reached or passed L96 and bought the Versa its no big deal .

I already have the 96+ Versa and I`m also on L100 , so I have no reason to jump all over this . I can wait until L101 which I will reach by late Dec. or early Jan . either way a nice gift to myself if I decide to do so .

I see that according to your stats you have a 65.30 1 Putt % which is very solid putting so you would have made that same putt with the 96 Versa . As I stated earlier the M1 or M2 only has only .2 more balance and precision and .5 more forgiveness than the Versa and costs 700 credits more . Thats not a real game changer for me to make that purchase .

I think AgentBrown would definitely benefit with a better putter.  Imo the better your putting stats the more the putter will actually help you.  If you have poorish putting stats then the putter isn't the problem and the upgrade won't do much for you.

I've got the Versa96 too and it's a very nice putter, however, I'd estimate that around 1 in 10 or maybe 1 in 14 putts jump offline around 1/2 to 3/4 of a hole.  With my old Max putter this probably happened 1 in 8 or 1 in 12 putts.  So precision/balance seems do have an effect on how frequently this happens.  Sure, there is VEM/Deviation but from my experience each putter scales offline putts in according to their stats.

Anyways, I plan on purchasing the putter pretty soon myself.  I imagine I'll be saving around 1 stroke every 18 holes which would be a HUGE pick up imo.

whats really weird is that putters in this game work differently for different folk. Case in point, the putter that i still use this day is the level 66 spider even though i've purchased the level 96 versa, and many Nike putters, they dont automatically mean you will shoot better scores. All this putter craze is comical on my end, but who am i to laugh at other peoples exaltation. Perhaps other people experience an improved score with higher level putters, but not this chap. Carry on wgt revelers, carry on mates.

They sure do. IMO, the best thing you can do is have 1 putter in your bag. Removes the temptation to blame the equipment and forces you to know your putter. The trick is finding one you like.  :-)

You are right Jim. A person should pick the desired distance they desire and stay with that type putter and distance.

I'm not so sure that they actually work differently, rather the people using them have got used to the way a putter plays and it doesn't always transfer to a new one.

In my case I've used all the Ghost Spiders on offer and got on great with them.  I then switched to Versa and have played with both of them very well.  Almost no adjustment was required.

I recently bought the M1 Nike though as I was finding the way the Versa lost a lot of distance on missed dings annoying and although, in theory, it's a better putter, I think I'm playing worse with it.  It isn't a worse putter, it's just I'm used to the way the Versa plays and this doesn't work with the Nike, I'm either going to let it gather dust or accept putting worse for a while until I adjust to it.

I missed a 2.5 foot putt on the first hole in this weeks 9 hole single play, the Versa would have sunk it every time.  Does this mean the Nike is an inferior putter?  Not at all, it just requires a different way of thinking, one I have to learn but have not had to do so for a long time as the Versa plays so similar to the Ghost Spiders.

I really have to hand it to WGT when it comes to putters, they totally nailed it.

D, i went a head and bought it, i love it......it seems to hold the line better and the forgiveness is helping a lot....miss ding slightly does not seem to lose line or distance.. i am playing it like my old 70 versa, and so far so good....and thanks YJ for telling me about it.
